Cant the Chief stop this behavior? He lives right next door. Why should an officer start at 5am? Why does this officer need a take home sqaud? Does he get called out every night, once a week, once a month or once a year? More like once every two years. There is no justification for this. I hope the chief stops this soon before it really gets worse.

Chuck Rinella never gets called out for any accidents he is a joke!! Why can't we all take cars home?

why doesn't he just work like everyone else either rotate all shifts or start at 8am and turn that car in. Who is his supervisor? Greco? Maybe he need to take a look at what Rinella is doing all day.

The rumors are circulating that all this commotion about Rinella selfishness regarding the take home car and hours he works is starting to wear the higher ups thin. There are other supervisors making a play for Rinella's cushy spot. At least two supervisors have already promised to work whatever hours they are told and they both said they wont take the squad home. People in the know have said that the "Rinella issue" as they call it will hurt in the election with the minority vote. So they are going to act fast. Unless Rinella finally steps up and does the right thing. WOW! Lookout.

Well the BGA and Dave Savini have been snooping around Melrose Park. The main story they are working on is the mis-use of police department funds and equipment. Some officers have been asked directly about Sgt Charles Rinella and why he is granted the full and unrestraint use of a town’s vehicle? No other Melrose Park Police officer is granted a take home vehicle not even Detectives or Tactical Officers. One alleged supervisor stated that we all have to rotate our shifts now going from days to four to twelve and then midnights. Even radar officers are rotating from shift to shift all accept Sgt Charles Rinella. Why is this? The same alleged supervisor stated that there have been several occasions that Sgt Charles Rinella was called out to investigate and accident only to tell that supervisor to call one of the other radar officers. Sgt Charles Rinella still lumbers around lazily doing nothing and the rest of us are rotating which makes all of the other officers sick. Not to mention the unorthodox times Sgt. Charles Rinella decides on his own to work 5am-1pm unfortunately this will all come down on Chief Sam Pitassi for allowing this to go on probably during the election. The other topic that was brought up was why the department has a dog catcher. Michael Lichter is the Melrose Park Police Departments Dog Catcher. A quick check of several neighboring departments shows none have had a dog catcher for at least 5 years. All the neighboring departments have had civilians placed in these positions. So why is Michael Lichter still the department dog catcher? One reason he donates heavily to the mayor. The other is that DC Michael Castellan want to keep Michael Licther close because DC Michael Castellan knows that Michael Lichter was he main one who ran to FBI’s and served as an informant and doesn’t want him running back to rat on him next. Dog Catcher Michael Lichter was one of the officers that strong-armed local Melrose Park businesses to donate to DC Michael Castellans man of the years while he was on duty and the feds are still looking into that.
