I guess everyone has the backstabber at work, the one that will tell the boss every little thing she sees/hears/thinks, work evenings and weekends just to suck up, insists on being the best employee even if that means making you look bad, and will pretend to be your friend all the while. The worst part is the boss doesn't seem to see it. He thinks she is great. Her lips are so attached to his rear end that it is pathetic. Any advise on how to deal with this without losing my job?

Every job has drama. The only way to avoid it is go to work do your job and dont worry about what other people are doing. If her antics get you fired sue the hell out of the company.

We have quite a few at our office, it's really quite pathetic. You literally see them walking down the hallways, damn near "running" beside supervisors. No sooner than the Supervisor leaves the area? she turns around and "acts" as tho she's doing her job, but as soon as the Supervisor is within a mile? And she knows it? She's running around like a chicken with her head cut off. I'd really like to slap the living hell out of her. lol

Sorry, I guess I got a little lost there. The best thing you can do? Is completely ignore her, fly below the radar at all costs. Don't divulge any information to her, she will use it against you. Stay focused on your job, to the best of your ability. I wouldn't ask her for help for anything. She doesn't sign your paycheck, nor does she earn it.(Those type of people barely earn there's) Let her dig her own hole, she'll step into it eventually.

Well said! Every workplace has people like that and a mature person will live with it and go about their own job. Life is too short to spend your time worrying about trivial matters in a workplace.

Agree with everyone! Clock in, do your job, do not share anything personal! Go home and live your life. You MUST work to pay your bills. Remember that foremost!!! have a great day!

My roommate is the office brown noser. She is not in administration but she always refers to everything that the supervisor says as "We" I am learning the hard way not to say anything at all cause she will tell everything. I honestly didn't know she was like that until now. I am looking for a new place to live cause I need some space from the back stabbing brown noser.

Dealing with one at the moment myself. Somehow discovered that I was seeking other work and she reported this to my manager/business owner. He's not particularly professional at the best of times, so he's stepped up his attacks now -'are you deaf?' and 'you're so noisy'. Bearing in mind I work in customer service. Anyway, my advice is to work for money not mates. Do your job, nothing more and nothing less. Go on staff nights out and social events, but be controlled.

Document everything she does to you or any out of the ordinary situation in which you are both involved. This is HUGE!

Where I work, we are getting ready to move our complete facility to a new location. It is considered to be one of the largest moves in North America. That's what I'm being told. Well anyway, we have this little dude who is one of the biggest brown-nosers I've ever seen. He acts as if the company cannot successfully complete this move without him being there.
He runs to management and volunteers you to help him in one of his many projects. If everything goes right, he sits right there and lies to management - telling them that he did everything.
Employees around the plant who are not im management simply do not like him. If any member of management had to make s sudden stop, this guy's face would get lost up their backsides.
I guess that when he was little and in school, he got picked last to be on the kickball team.

I'm going through the pains of having a- an absent minded solid line boss, who gives poor feedback and overreacts when applying company policy for mistakes done at work, b-a dotted line manager who is the biggest hypocrite (and who I suspect is poisoning the environment on behalf of...) c-a major league brownnoser who now carpools with the dotted line manager and sees me as a threat to his career advancement. I'm doing my best to switch jobs, but the economy is not conducive to this... Help!

I have been suffering the pains of a brownnoser for years now. She was hired as a secretary at the finance department I worked in. I must say that our office before her was quiet, pleasant to work in given the huge amount of workload we had. This person was noisy, lazy, poor time management skills and still managed to be recognized and highly praised by the supervisors. Then we both applied to other positions in different departments but related so we have to see each other every day and our offices are near. Well if the finance dept was her school this time around was her graduation. Everyone praises her, she gets all the awards, she gets all the training approved, she even got a new position without having the qualifications needed to get it. She left behind the "friends" she made when she started out guess she is on another level and now hangs out with another high level crowd. She has always said bad things about me but when other people are around she is the nicest person of all. This makes me crazy don't know how to be around her I can't fake to like her I just tune her out when I sense that the comments are directed to me.

That kind of person helps weed out the slackers. You aren't a slacker are you? If not then stop worrying about it and be glad that someone else is bitching about the people that you probably bitch about in private.

Also, proofread anything you send to your boss or you will make the tattle tails job a lot easier. Advice, not advise.

That's the worst advice ever. I had a woman do that to me once. All my boss did waas send me an email telling me that I had a problem child. I watched her for a few months and then fired her. For what? Stealing. She made a copy of something personal using my copier and my paper without permission. She had a union and lost her grievance because the union contract does not say how much stealing is permissable, only that stealing company property is a one step discharge.

Never try to outsmart your boss.

I am having the same problem. This witch runs and tells on everything. And is not so sweet and innocent. She calls the boss at home, texts, they gather in hallways, bathrooms and whisper. She is stuck on the "look at me I am saving the world" . "I am so good, my life is so tough feel sorry for me!"
I can't take it and just want to rip her fricking hair out (but I won't). ;)

I know how you feel Marie. There is a suck up in my office who is in the process of completing a mat leave contract and I cannot wait for the permanent employee to come back. This girl has gone to great lengths to try to impress my boss, including setting up an investment account with her and also buying life insurance. I know she is really hoping that they hire her on full time, but she needs to realize that it's just a mat leave contract and the original lady is coming back. She sucks up to all of the bosses and hates me. I can tell she is jealous since I have a permanent full-time job with the company and am higher up the ladder. I could see right through her week one of her contract, she kisses ass all day long to mask the fact that she doesn't actually know anything about our industry. She pretends like she knows everything, so to put her in her place I debate with her on almost every tid-bit of useless advice she tries to give to people. I don't care if my boss hates it or not, she is intolerable. I am sure that my boss is starting to catch on to her behavior and the best defense I find is just to ignore her. A smart boss should want to keep an employee for the job they do and experience they have, these are the people to keep since they actually help the business in being profitable. Suck ups only wish they could.

(TIP) from a good friend said this
They are in every business I've ever worked for. About all you can do is ignore them but watch your back. Don't give them anything that they can use against you.
Don't do any favors for them and don't ask them to do any for you.
I am having trouble at my work also, They hired this new kid and he is a hyper jumpy one he also spy's on other employee's and speaks a 2nd language (Spanish) 2 face brown noser back stabber. I use that advice and it work so far he had nothing to say as I don't go near him much no more. I don't speak to him unless needed to. I hope I can keep this job as I do love the money. So I said to my self no more complaining to my boss makes me look bad, but yet he still say's something about me and other employee's and gets away with it. This kid is like really friendly like they are best friends with my boss
any one else have an better idea how I can stay on a formal way with this co worker of mine witch I stuck with for 5 years if I make it that long ..
