those of us who have been around a long time are not surprised, the police dept. in those days was awful, drunks, drugs, women, it was hard to tell who the bad guys were...

A fair result. Kudos the Betty Anne Waters for her tenacity to fight for her brother. And for those of you who love to bash lawyers, this is a perfect example of why they are needed - because not every person that is convicted of a crime actually committed the crime - there are innocent people sitting in jails for crimes they did not commit -hopefully, with the grace of God and the help of skilled professional attorneys, they may all some day be freed.

I agree McGuane/Proctor Case was a big screw up. They deserved life. There was no remorse and it was an attempt to cover up and corrobate stories.

So, the myopic Ayer cops managed to send an innocent man to prison for 19 years of his 47 year long life. I say part of the payback should be that the cops who railroaded this innocent man should spend 19 years of their lives in prison. An eye for an eye would work out well in this case.

The Ayer PD was a farce back then. But, is it all that different now? These Blueboys seem to excel at hiding in their crusiers and nickle and diming the public for minor driving infractions, and not much else.

Nice work boys, Ayer's insurance premiums will most likely go up as a result of your blunder. The Taxpayers will have to chip in towards the fine itself and the increased insurance premiums because of these clowns. We can all look at them proudly, as they continue to hide and write tickets for lame driving offences. Police work as usual in Ayer!

This was well deserved, and it doesn't fix the damage it has done. People can say what they like, but he was innocent and the DNA doesn't lie. The bithch who made things difficult for MR. Waters an his family should go to jail even if she ai a 72 year old woman, she was young and full of lies whne this happened. Now instead of stupid comments made towards tthis family , lats work on finding the real killer. By the way thank Ayer MA and all the other assholes who have nothing nice to say, it's ok because the family as of now is 3.4 million happier thanks to you.

It sounds like Officer Nancy Taylor-Harris may have been guilty of witholding evidence at the initial trial. Evidence that showed that a bloody finger print found at the scene DID NOT MATCH the fingerprints of the accused may have been conviently not brought into court.

It sounds like another cop hellbent on winning a case versus prosecuting a guilty man. Oh, the shame of it all, oh, the shame of it all....

I think it's a shame that Kenny spent all those years in prison and then died soon after getting out,not really having much time with his family.

There should be no statute of limitations; if a mistake is made all we can do is try to correct it, but using the tools of justice to commit a crime has a simple remedy.

An eye for an eye.

I remember that incident. And the two Ayer cops who used to go the Shirley Club and get hammered all morning before going to work. Not surprised those clowns messed up this case. Ayer cops were a joke and Shirley was just as bad.

What became of Nancy Taylor? She's responsible for so much destruction and sadness in other peoples' lives, due to her own ego trip.

My heart goes out to the Waters family - especially Kenny's daughter, who was robbed of a life she could've spent growing up with her father.

the ayer police department has always and still is the most pathetic bunch in the united states of america. they are lazy, stupid and constantly full of blunders. i was a school teacher in ayer and a devoted one and a good citizen of ayer. they took my car from me because i did not stop at a stop sign near the police department on christmas eve in 2008. i had a perfect records no tickets ever and never had a drink in 50 years. those idiots ruined my life, took my car, my license, because i questioned their sanity for stopping me for nothing. i guess the ayer police, aka idiots of america COULD NOT TAKE THE TRUTH OF BEING CALLED WHAT THEY ARE. IDIOTS, LAZY SLOBS.

i totally agree with you. no police department is worse than in ayer, ma. i was an honest, non drinking, no tickets ever in 48 years in ayer and the police there
ruined my life also. i have absolutely no respect for the police department in ayer, massachusetts. you will never find worse than these lazy, worthless cops.they could never get a job in a department on any force in america. may they all rot in hell where they belong.
