Boycott this orchard if the city doesn't remove the large rocks blocking the trail-head parking lot!!BOYCOTT!

The rocks were most likely put there to keep people
from using the nearby pond for swimming/parties, as
mentioned in the news a while ago.

how can people argue about Sholan Farms? the rocks are there to stop trespassers onto the water...Mr Manning was correct.....why would anyone boycott an apple orchard?

The answer is because this orchard was purchased with taxpayer money. The Mayor did not purcase the orchard with his money. IT IS PUBLIC LAND THAT MAZZARELLA IS BLOCKING ACCESS TO WITHOUT A PUBLIC HEARING. Kids have been swimming in this resevoir for 50 years - the resevoir is not in Leominster. They are not trespassers, they are walking over public land. Yesterday there were 8 swimmers at about 2:30 in the afternoon - they just park at the orchard and walk through the orchard to the resevior. The only people the rocks are keeping out is the people that use the hiking trails that they paid for.

if the apples are ready for picking, why not open earlier to make $$$?

unionguy-- i guess you're volunteering to police the reservior? you saw 8 people swimming..before they put the rocks, there were 100 kids. if i remeber years ago, it was trespassing to swim there. its just clinton doesn't want to enforce the law. go take a swim and look at the bottom..littered with cans, bottles and whatever else the idiot kids can throw in. i bet the water isn't even fit for drinking.

"i bet the water isn't even fit for drinking."
Fit for drinking - that's a joke. Think of all of the pesticides washing down hill from the orchard to the resevior for all those years. These kids will be lucky if they don't glow in the dark in a few years -- but it still is not even posted as "no swimming".

As mentioned before, the pond is owned by the Town of Clinton, and they are being told to address the issue, one way or another. Last thing I heard is the issue was still being worked out between Clinton and Leominster.
