New construction education is not in demand and will not be anytime soon.Repair and maintence of existing homes will continue to grow as new homes age. A new focus could be retrofit existing homes
for energy efficiency ie. replacement windows, energy audits, insulation and learning repair methods, which is nothing more than survival skills especially in a slow economy. This would mean basic shop classes such as wood, and electric shop but updated for conservation design.
Growth areas even include native landscaping.
