Shocking! A teenage boy with a pocketknife. I got my first one when I was 9 or 10 for Christmas. I never went anywhere without it.

I hope the school gets sued.

Let's cut the kid some slack. Anyone who can enroll at Harvard at the age of 17 deserves a bit of leeway.

What is this world coming to ? everyone is scared of everyone. everyone is guilty, so everyone is innocent. we created the monster years ago, when parents stopped being parents and left it to the schools to be parents.

Isn't it time we rid ourselves of panic everytime we see a supposed weapon? Heck, I carry a knife everyday. It's a tool folks.

Hey Al Cheholic- i get the spelling- you are an alcoholic if you think it's Harvard University. What're you drinking, I want some. It's Harvard Illinois. You know, MILK DAYS????HARMILDA THE COW?? DUH!!! I say send the kid to jail. He's legal and was stupid enough to bring a knife to school.

Likewise, and I've continued to carry one for 50 years.

Glad I'm not a kid. I've carried a folding knife since my granddad gave me one at age 5 in 1957. It irks me that I must leave it in the car when I visit the county building.

The article doesn't say how big the knives are. Pretty big gap in your reporting.

Wow, just wow. Pocketknives are the least of my concern when worrying about street violence. I carried a pocket knife all throughout high school and college. It came in handy many times for various utilitarian reasons. *sigh* I don't even understand how pocketknives can be considered concealed weapons. By that theory, my keys can be a concealed weapon.

Am I the only one who caught the humor? I'm pretty sure he knew the kid wasn't in college.

Backpacks full of books can be used as a weapon. The straps can be used to choke someone. Pencils are really shanks. Don't get me started on the dangers of thumb tacks.
Really, some people want all teenagers to be criminalized. Thank goodness I outgrew my teen years already, otherwise, I would be locked up, by now, with no serious chance at contributing to society.
This proves that we do not live in a free society.

This boy needs to be thouroughly investigated and expelled from school until further investigations can be completed. This is an outrage, knowone is safe anymore, not even in school.

We all know if these were knives with 8 inch blades the tribune would report it in bold type.

Im guessing these knives are folding 4 inch blades. Hell I wouldnt be shocked if all they were was a "folding malti-tool".

The school should be in trial here not the kid.

I think some of the people in this forum should try "Reading for Dummies". Sue the school for what? He was arrested by the police for violating a town ordinance. If there are people in Harvard that don't like the ordinance, attend a village meeting. That's a nice example some set on this forum for kids- if you don't like a rule, just ignore it. Those in the forum not from Harvard, how do you know whether or not people from Harvard approve of the ordinance?
