This is just my opinion, but seriously, when was the last time you took a good look at Marengo? It is coming dangerously close to being known as a "dump". The old-timers don't take any pride in their businesses, hence the appearance of the downtown.
whats this all about

I like how the old timers blame the newbies, for the general condition of downtown. Who was here first,I guess that's how you take care of "your" town. The lesson is: let it go to hell, then blame someone else.

Why would they choose Brookside Meadows for this 'Habitat' house? As long as it is maintained well I guess that's all that matters.

Is this problem because H for H is linked with low-income, or poverty? Seems like a "class" issue.

Also- The donwtown IS A TOTAL DUMP. Why is nothing being done?
Who owns these buildings? Why are they in complete disrepair?

Sounds like some unhappy residents. Why dont you welcome this neighbor with love and kindness. Thats what Jesus would like. You dont know anything about this person and it doesnt matter anyway. Quit complaining and start an organization to revialize the downtown area. Genoa has a committee for this. Call them up and see how you can start one. Im sure they would be happy to help. Start Giving of yourself this is where you will find joy. God Bless

Get used to it Shannon, these Marengo jerks will spread your business like wildfire in this ho-dunk cesspool. Maybe someday when your kids are teens, they'll get shot in the back by a sex-offender, and the whole town will rejoice. Just my experience when I lived there. Or maybe they'll be happy just bashing you on the NWH website, I don't know. But I'd never raise a kid there. I hope your past is squeaky clean, or that these gossiping losers never find out. Good luck, and I apoligize on behalf of my ignorant and selfish gossiping former neighbors.

Marengo is full of gossiping old ladies. I blame their kids for teaching them how to use the internet. As for the downtown being unsightly, and the kid getting shot in the back, I'm not sure how that's related to the story, but it goes to show how Marengo people will take any excuse to spout off about things that aren't any of their business. Oh, and if you want downtown to improve, here's an idea, spend your money there! They probably aren't rehabbing because they can't afford to. And you people are pissing in your own pool complaining about it, how does that help???
