Hello. Who are you? What is your ethnicity if you don't mind me asking? I am looking for a lost grandfather who no one ever met who is Puerto Rican. We did blood tests and everything on my father just to find out his race. My father is half English from southwest Yonkers born in 1944. Who ever his father was had a high amount of Taino blood (Around 88-90%). He was not adopted but seperated from his father before he was born because of racial issues in the area. It was mostly poor blacks and poor whites at the time so Hispanics had a real hard time being a small minority at that time. If you can provide any useful tips as to how I can maby connect with this side of my family that would be great. I know my grandfather has passed by now but his other children I would love to meet.

The only person who met the father was his mother and she took that secret to the grave with her. She was only 15 years old at the time so that was another reason.

Hi, depending on ages, the 1940 Federal Census records are coming out in April.
So you might want to check for people on there.
Also check old phone books, to get names, for a certain era of time.

Good News!

We have a date & time for the meeting/hearing for HB 748! This has been put on the calendar and in the event they change the schedule, I will let you know ASAP.

The House Judiciary (Civil) Committee will meet Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 8:00 AM in room 132 Capitol. There are a few other bills on the agenda and the meeting will end by 10:00 AM as they have a floor session to attend @ 10:00 AM.

So, if anyone can attend this meeting, please let me know. Just so we have an idea and we will have plenty of GEAR badges for people. Even if you are not sure and you are a maybe, you can let me know that as well and then as soon as you do know, you can confirm.
