I work 3rd for the state and have tuned in to channel 3 for many years, but more for the eye-candy doing traffic. Honestly, I don't care what people's personal preferences are and yes the dude is a little over the top, but he's a hell of alot more entertaining than Mr. Potatohead on chan. 61. I commend anyone who supports charities as it's not a requirement of the job. Good job, and let no know if Theresa is single or not.

She has said she's dating one guy. You and others are correct, though. Beautiful! One of the Connecticut stations should put together an all-star broadcast team: Jerry Brooks and Denise D'Acenzo as co-anchors (now that Joanne Nesti has unfortunately retired), Bruce DePriest doing the weather, Kevin Nathan on sports and Theresa doing traffic. That's a team I'd watch every morning, noon and night! News delivered professionally without an agenda; a comprehensive and informative weather forecast with no gay clowning around; solid and informed sports reporting; and the traffic report for dessert.

Well after reading some of the hateful comments, it's hard to turn off the computer and not have my own opinion counted in. As Carrie from Canton said, "If you don't like him, turn the channel." If you're here just to leave nasty comments, time to look in the mirror.

Congratulations Scot! You have many, many fans who look forward to seeing your face first thing in the morning. We start out the day with a smile because of you! Thank you and please don't ever change!

Why is it that every positive comment on this forum is judged as either Clueless, Nuts, or Disagree?

Well here's your chance once again:

Scot, you are THE MAN! Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Many people like you, so stay on the air for the next 30 years.

The morning ratings would seem to indicate that more and more of us are doing just what Carrie from Canton suggested: changing the channel in response to Scot's stupid, childish, unprofessional, self-absorbed, gay behavior first thing in the morning. I don't consider my critique or the critiques of others are "hateful" in most cases. I do think they reflect a growing level of frustration and intolerance for Scot's needless outbursts every time he's on camera - and often when his hapless colleagues are on camera, too. I actually feel sorry for the others on the morning newscast. They're trying to do their jobs over the din of this clown who does little more than drag the entire newscast down to his amateurish level.

Bill, where can someone get the ratings for morning shows? I have searched and could not find any ratings except for prime time. I agree that people should just change the channel. That is the best way to show their displeasure. There are finally some decent alternative morning shows IMO.

I actually went to see a taping of "Better Connecticut" recently, and Scot was very inviting and kind to me. I got a picture with him and Kara on the set, and they were again so very nice about it. Everybody at WFSB goes out of their way to be nice from the personalities to the technicians, to the front desk. They could have "tolerated" me and then tried to get me out, but welcomed me with open arms. So I have nothing against Scot Haney and WFSB. The only thing I hold a grudge to them for is for letting Darren Sweeney go. But that's it. I also want to make myself clear that I respect everyone's opinion if they do not like Scot. Like you have the right to dislike him, I have the same right to like him, as well as the many people on these forums that like him.

Cedric - They appear periodically in the courant, thought I'm not sure where to find them online. The last ones disclosed that the advent of Channel 61's morning news program cut deeply into Channel 3's and Channel 30's ratings, and rightfully so. Channel 61 probably won't ever win a Pulitzer, but I prefer their professional non-nonsense deliver of news, weather and traffic. As I've said, if Scot's on vacation, Channel 3 is my preference because the others there do a nice job. But as soon as they go to the weather and Scotso begins his antics, I'm off the reservation and - I suspect - so are a lot of other viewers, yourself included.

I have never understood why people watch the news for anything but a reiteration of the events of the day. So many people talk of these local newscasters as "their friends" and hold expectations that the news reader somehow "connect" with them on a personal level. Get a life and get some real friends. I far prefer the distanced relationship between viewer and news reader which exists in Europe on such networds as BBC One, BBC World Service, or Sky News.
If you are really looking for "friends" or "entertainment" from teh news shows, you have low standards with these local newspeople prattling about local birthdays or one sentence relays of "Looks like a great day, Joe." And spare us the cooking segments. I would love to see one of these local reporters discuss the nitty gritty of micro-economics beyond "hmmm, seems like bad news".
You need to get a life (and a heart). I certainly wouldn't want to be your friend! I can not tolerate narrow minded people.

And how did you do your survey, or is all this something you just made up in order to validate your opinion? Listen, you are certainly entitled to your opinion, but don't knock everyone else who may not agree with you. Just goes to show that stupid is as stupid does. You sure fit into that category and you even prove it.

first of all if i want to be entertained i will watch bill cosby or george carlin etc if i want the weather i should watch the news as i get ready for work or whatever.he is annoying he even annoys the woman who does the traffic and didnt she leave the station? and why does anyone especially a weatherman deserve an ego? please he is just annoying to alot of people and he gets ratings because of it and the station wont fire him because they would be sued.i only watch that channel because i like the newscasters but were stuck with this clown popping up every 10 minutes
Change the station, or did you forget how to do that? And isn't George Carlin dead? Now there's a person to keep watching--perhaps he'll rise again just for you.

If Scot is gay, WHO CARES? he does the weather, he sings and.does charity work, and gets the attention he obviously craves. At the same time the charities benefit from his Visibility and popularity. This is a GOOD THING!
Some people absolutely worry way too much about the personal lives and sexuality of celebrities. Don't these folks have lives of their own to live???
Sad!
