One of the more fascinating posters I have come across. Starting out as "Spud 2044" (I think), then to "Spud 4402" (I think), and now "Sweet Potatoe", and all from AOL. Spud can spin some yarns and his stories always teach something. I am thrilled to be in his company, and know of many others who feel the same way. I also know of many others who don't, but that's another story for another day.
I just wanted to dedicate a place just for you, Big Guy, and I hope it takes off and provides you with many happy reading times.

Spud and his stories remind me of my Dad, may he rest in peace. My dad, not Spud.

WE WILL HAVE NO TOPIC,IT WILL BE LIKE MY CLASS THE DEAN TAUGHT,NO GRADE JUST CREDIT,BRING A SUBJECT TO TALK ABOUT AND WE WILL DIGRESS A LOT. THANKS JAT. hoo rah, A SALUTE FOR TOMORROW FOR ALL THE VETERANS AND ONE TO MYSELF. SPUD4402, THE CATMAN AND GROWER OF SWEET POTATOES FOR MANY YEARS.

I told you about the times he was punishing us, but he was also a devout Christian, hardworking, and a law-abiding family man.

Once during the last months of his life I shook his hand and said "I always thought you were a hardass when I was growing up, and now I'm really glad you were a hardass". The way he smiled you would of thought I had just handed him a million bucks. It was the best thing I ever said to him.

When I read your posts I think of him, and that's really good.

Sir Spud....hmmmm

Saluting a spud, a tater, a potato(e), a yam and a tuber.

Hope it takes off, or at least a place where people can communicate about all things local, so to speak.

I WAS THE SAME WAY TO MY SON AS I WAS THE ONE WHO HAD TO BE THE HA AND WHEN HE WENT OFF TO COLLEGE I SHOOK HIS HAND AND TOLD HIM HE WAS ON HIS OWN BUT WOULD GIVE ADVICE IF ASKED FOR BUT HE NEVER NEED MUCH,HE HAD SELF DISCIPLINE WHICH IS ABOUT THE BEST A PARENT CAN DO. YOUR FATHER WAS GLAD THAT YOU UNDERSTOOD WHAT HE DID FOR YOU. IT WAS ENOUGH FOR HIM. Men like him made this a great nation.

Actually, Supreme Commander, it was Sadia's idea. She was writing you an email and started yelling at the top of her lungs. Of course, that always scares the craap out of me, but she does it whenever she is excited happy. Anyway, she said she was telling you how much she liked "Sadia's Stories", and got the idea to start a forum for you. I thought it was a great idea, so here we are. You're a rare bird, Big Guy, and I love ya!!

Okay, did I do this correctly? If I wanted to have other posters who know Spud from other places comment, should I have started this somewhere else and if so, where and how?

Here is fine.

All you have to do is copy and paste the link so that other people can come by.

Sometimes, it's easier and safer to start a thread like this in a local forum. To start it in a national forum would be fruitless, mostly because no one here, except me, hangs out there and no one there would really care to know about Spud.

But should I have picked maybe the original forum Spud was first and/or mainly posting on?
What would that one be, Spud?

that would be the old forum where sadia's story is and the orlando sentinel topix. IT'S only been within the last year that i branched out to other forums. i was on the asheville n.c. forum for a while and i've posted with a few of them on the raleigh forum. i've been tied up with some folks lately.:) I lost someof my addys for posters when i change servers,i was supposed to have 24 hours to change things and earthlink cut me off right then when we hung up. i sent injeun mail yesterday,no ones posted there for a while but people visit. amazing.

Oh, not to worry. Our whole day is committed to Veterans' Day tomorrow. We are having a big outdoor celebration for the whole school and their relatives who are Veterans. Then we are having a luncheon in our class for the 6 relatives of our students who are Veterans who will be attending the celebration in the morning. In the afternoon we are doing some research on Veterans' Day, its origin and its customs.
