This is a place definitely on the police payroll. I have been in there numerous times and there are ashtrays EVERYWHERE. People smoke inside all the time and I have been there with the cops parked right OUTSIDE THE DOOR chatting with patrons while people walk outside with beers.
A place like that will never be punished as long as they keep paying off the cops. Give up and move.

Alfa's was always a nice little place. The food is great. Unfortunately, the kids are running the place and the addition of the bar has brought trouble. I went down there a few months ago for my birthday with some friends and there were tons of people smoking right at the bar. Patrons freely walk back into the kitchen area, sometimes with lit cigarettes. The old man build a great business and his kids are going to destroy it.

Walnut Beach doesn't need another empty storefront along that stretch, but Afla's moves the needle on the local dirtbag meter firmly into the red.

The responsibility lies firmly upon the permittee to keep the peace with the neighbors it is obvoius that alcohol effects behavior Who really needs a bunch of unsupervised intoxicated people running rampant through a neighborhood?
Business can continue and relations with the neighbors can improve if the owner and manager decide that is what they want or continue with business as usual until the State gets involved and makes them responsible... But lets not dismiss the possibility that some neighbors might be retaliating and making mountains out of mole hills...

what happened? i lived there in the late 80's and this old guy was running it. It was a nice little restaurant. Did the old man die and his son took over? if anyone knows please post. That is to bad it went down hill, the man I know who used to run never caused noone no trouble.

The bar is NOT as bad as everyone is making it out to be.

1.First of all there is NO escort business there. A guy that rents an apartment in the building books dancers that go to stags but he has nothing to do with Alfa's. So people stop talking out ur A**
2. I have personally seen the Alfa boys turn drunk people away at the door who were trying to come in from being at other bars. So obviously someone ELSE over-served them and sent them on their way.
3. The Police, well, with a crazy neighbor making UP acquisations, I feel BETTER when I see an officer there. This way the neighbors can't call the police and lie about something going on that isn't

Plus- I know I'm drinking at the safest bar in town!

4. Their food is EXCELLENT and served all night so if you feel like a glass of wine and a great pie or a late nite bite to eat- this is the place.

5. It's a friendly local bar where friends and family meet we have a great time so if you don't like it, don't come back.

So if Alfa's isn't YOUR kind of bar- so be it- it's our Bar, don't come in and for the neighbor who's been doing all the lieing and bit**in- if you can't take the noise- MOVE - Alfa's was here LONG before you were!

Actually, Alfa's has only been in it's current location a short time. Previously, it was across the street until just before that shopping center was torn down to make the condos. Back then it wasn't a bar. Back then, and even in the new location, the old man ran a respectable business. Now that his kids are running the place, it's going down hill fast.

To 'bpt man', the old man is still alive and still owns the place, but he's basically retired. His kids run the place (at least I think they're his kids).

A bar being shut down means a serious violation took place.
The sons are running the business.
Check the 2007 Milford yellow pages under Adult Entertainment for escort service ad. Check 2009 yellow pages for listing of service under Adult Entertainment. Or ask homeowners unfortunate enough to live near this establishment what they've seen, heard, and documented. This bar is WELL within 1500 feet of three schools (elementary) and one licensed Day Care Center.
Check CT Post 2001 front page news on "melee" that took place involving be-be guns.
Or come down unannounced and visit the place to see for yourself.
This establishment is documented on paper as being here since 2001.

This bar is being shut down for two days in February. Ask they were already shut down for a day recently.

Photos, videos, 200 documented police reports don't lie. Homeowners are taxpaying citizens the bar business in question are renters-why don't they move?

The Milford cops are on their payroll. They sit outside while smoking goes on in the bar and ignore it. Just another example of the corruption seeping in. Long time res must be familiar with it from being in corupt Bpt.....or behind it as well.

This neighborhood will never "turn the corner" and get better for real until this business shuts down. I won't invest in an area where drug dealers and drunks loiter on the street. I looked into starting a business near the bar and possibly purchasing a home as well.....NO WAY !!!!!!
Go pull the police history at that address like I did and it will scare you away too.
Walnut beach is the forgotten corner of town where the town newspapers and the city say they want an arts community but won't "take out the trash" for it to happen.
I feel sorry for those residents and businesses of that area.

We agree that the bar is at fault when it comes to smoking. It is plain and simple that it's illegal to smoke in bars. I have actually thought about going there for a drink and bite to eat, but decided against it because of the smoking. The pizza was good for take out, but I wouldn't consider eating there. I wish the vision of the Walnut Beach area could come to fruition, however, the area just doesn't seem appealing to many people. Having this bar clean up a bit may just begin the ball rolling. The new cafe across the street, the creamery, and the new condos are a welcome addition to this block. Let's make sure every business in the area is running things professionally. This might mean cracking down on this notorious bar. AND STOP SMOKING IN THERE!

I almost fell off the chair choking back the laughter. I guess if you want to expose your friends and children to drunks urinating in the ally and a shady clientele with cigarettes hanging out of their mouths -(and that is just outside the bar). Wait till you get inside, you are in for a treat. Guys that are so drunk that the only decipherable sentences they can spit out have so many profanities that a sailor would blush. I can say that as I raised in a military family. And the women, oh boy - wait until your little ones see that - there is something to aspire too.
Give me a break, anyone that would want to socialize or even worse, bring their families into this hell hole, seriously needs help.
