New Britain, in the past several years, has started to give Hartford a great deal of competition in the crime and deviants category, hasn't it?

Yeah....Bridgeport, too. Best to stay away from all of them. They have nothing to offer anyway.

Have you been to NB lately? It appears not. There have been DOZENS of cases in the suburbs of robberies, weapons charges, and other violations since the last time NB was in the news for a crime committed, and nobody says anything bad about the suburbs. NB is NOT Hartford, and in spite of ignorance all around us, the city is much safer and very different than it was just 10 years ago. The neighborhood Goodwin Tech is in is a very safe, single family neighborhood. With the exception of a small, run-down public housing unit which is in the process of being renovated, this area looks more like South Windsor than Hartford.

I've lived in Waterbury and New Britain within the last 4 years. I'd say they're about the same as far as everyday crime is concerned (burglaries, unregistered vehicles, etc.). New Britain has more shootings and murders than Waterbury (neither have that many compared to Hartford, New Haven, or Bridgeport), and to be honest, I feel much safer walking down the streets of Waterbury than New Britain, although I don't think either city is really that bad compared to CTs "big ones".

This is a joke. School isn't what it used to be, gun s or no guns. Schools are more like a Facilty that practices prison style lockdown drills and serves as a daycare instead of a learning center. tax payers pay more money than ever for education, and those monies DO NOT ever get put into the actual educating of the student.. These monies are used for Security Overkill, Cameras, a comfy teacher's lounge, radio's a cell phones for the teachers, and well, just spoiling the teachers and staff in general. These times, schools only purpose to get children accustomed to being in a High Security controlled environment with no rights what so ever. If our children get used to this environment, they will be more than happy to vote for some Tyrannical politician who wants to suspend the Constitution and complete the process of a Police State. Oh wait...Hasn't that happened already?

murder rate in new britian from 99-06 is 1, 1, 3, 0, 0, 3, 2, 4

95% of the lockdowns are illegal. They are illegal in every state. The police, nor staff have the right to lockdown any building unless there is an immediate necessity.

This doesn't cover domestic disputes in the neighborhood or a drug dealer walking down the street. These are not a necessity for a lockdown.

The lockdown would be permitted under the same circumstances that would be expected of the general public when an incident occurrs in their area.

Example: If it wouldn't cause you or I to take cover or lock our doors, then it wouldn't be an immediate necessity.

Ok, I'll take that.. I thought Waterbury had 4 in 2006, so I was wrong on that, and I'm pretty sure they had 3 last year. I didn't look it up, obviously, but I still consider them compairable to each other, with neither one being a great city, but also neither one deserving to be compaired to Hartford, Bridgeport, or New Haven.

Somebody tipped the gang-banger and they either left or got rid of the weapon before police arrived. Not hard to figure out.

Something that looked like a gun was carried into a construction trailer. What will happen? The school board banning the contractors from using any tool that may raise suspicion to an on looker? Construction works use a gun to blow fastners into concrete. Some looks very much like a handgun and use .22 caliber blanks to fire a nail into concrete. Poor kids, no education being received.

How many of those crimes committed in the suburbs have been committed by someone who came from New Britain? Whenever you hear of a robbery, burglary, or any kind of police pursuit occurring in the Farmington Valley and/or Southington and Plainville, they almost always hail from New Britain (unless you're talking about crimes committed around the mall. Then they either come from New Britain or Hartford). So, the trash from New Britain just spills over and commits their crimes in the suburbs. How does this prove that New Britain is not turning into a pit?

P.S. There are two violent crimes and one thwarted violent crime on the New Britain page today. I can think of a few others just off the top in my head this year, and I'm sure I did some extensive research, you would find that nearly every violent crime committed in a suburb surrounding New Britain was committed by a New Britain resident.

How sad!!!. But it's a sign of the day and age in which we live. A parent sends their child to school at his or her own peril.
