President Obama is still president and "open tent Democratic Party" controls congress....

<quoted text>So you are saying that Christian atrocities were only committed by Roman Catholics? Look Carol, I don't know how you got off on this tirade; oh yeah, it was about the ACLU, which does amazing work for the civil rights of everyone, you have chosen to paint them with the wrong brush. How do you explain Eric Prince of Blackwater, the modern day christian crusader whose mission it is to rid the world of muslims? A private contractor paid by our government? No one is saying all christians are bad; however, to deny the history that everyone knows is ludicrous.
Lily, I already responded to your question about Blackwater. Did you read it? I'd really rather not repeat it again since it was just posted.

I am using the Roman Catholic Church has the main example of the atrocities it performed under the guise of Christianity because that is what most people are referring to when it comes to this subject. All atrocities carried out by those falsely bearing the banner of Christianity cannot be considered true Christians if it is being done out of hatred and evil.

It's funny that you and some others here have no difficulty whatsoever in separating the true peaceful Muslims from the radcial jihadist Muslims. But you can't get over the same obstacle of discernment when it comes to Christianity. Why is that?

He did lie dumbass. The house passed his healthcare with our taxes to fund abortions and illegals given access to healthcare at tax payers expense. Yes, Obama is a LIAR. Those are facts, don't try to lie your way out of this.

Don't worry, the capital "C" Carol is on your side, I believe. It's why I've reminded everyone here we are not the same person or share the same opinions.

Costume Party
>

>

>
A couple
was invited to a swanky costume party. The Mrs. got a terrible
headache and told her husband to go to the party alone.
>
He being a devoted husband protested, but she argued and said she was
going to take some aspirin and go to bed and there was no need for his
good time being spoiled by not going.
>
So he took his costume and away he went. The wife, after sleeping soundly
for about an hour, awakened without pain and, as it was still early,
decided to go the party.
>
Since her husband did not know what her costume was, she thought she
would have some fun by watching her husband to see how he acted when she
was not with him.
>
She joined the party and soon spotted her husband cavorting around on the
dance floor, dancing with every nice woman he could, and copping a little
feel here and a little kiss there.
>
His wife sidled up to him and being a rather seductive babe herself, he
left his
current partner high and dry and devoted his time to
the new babe that had just arrived.. She let him go as far as he wished ,naturally,
since he was her husband.
>
Finally, he whispered a little proposition in her ear and she agreed.

>
So off they went to one of the cars and had a quickie.
>
Just before unmasking at midnight, she slipped away, went home, put the
costume away and got into bed, wondering what kind of explanation he
would make for his behavior.
>
She was sitting up reading when he came in, and she asked what kind of a
time he had.. He said: "Oh, the same old thing. You know I
never have a good time when you're not there."
>
- "Did you dance much ?"
>
- "I'll tell you, I never even danced one dance. When I got there, I
met Pete, Bill Brown and some other guys, so we went into the den and
played poker all evening. But you're not going to believe what happened
to the guy I loaned my costume to....."

It was southern democrats who lynched and burned African-Americans. The issue of slavery and the plight of the Native Indians is a huge blot on our history. It is something I personally take very much to heart and over which had to do some serious soul searching. But we are not a perfect country and many died to right the wrong of slavery. I have voiced numerous times on this forum that Andrew Jackson should be stricken from our history books or, if not, considered as the most shameful president in our history because of the Trail of Tears.
It's the knowledge that this country does more good than bad in the world and the hope that the freedom on which we base our existence will be what prevails in the end. That is what keeps my moral compass on the right tract and heading in the right direction. What about you?
African Amricans were lynched and burned in the North and South.
As has been pummled into your head a thousand times by numerous posters, those Southern Democrats are now Republicans, thanks to the Civil Rights Act.
Our country has a history of causing great harm around the world and at home.
Freedom carries with it great responsibility.
Those issues are more than just a 'blot' on our history; they remain an ongoing problem for this country and are responsbile for much of the current division that we are experiencing.
I think it is morally wrong to ignore the fact that the freedoms you enjoy are not available to all Americans.

Interesting how utterly clueless you really are and why the jihadists consider us an easy mark because of the ignorance, denial and absurd political correctness generated by you and the likes of you who are just as dangerously confused in your own little worlds of a pre 9/11 mindset. If I knew you had a conscience, I'd tell you to be ashamed of yourself. But that, of course, would be pointless.
TwoCents, I regret having said most of what was said here in this post to you. Please forgive my harsh words which were not necessary to make a point. I'm sorry for having said all those things to you.

I would also add that those lynvhings and the systematic removal of native Americans were all seen as extremely moral acts at the time.

That's not true Carol; that's how you perceive others objectivity. No one has ever said that all Christians are bad. Not me or anybody else on here. You have a blind faith to your religion, others are not blind. You don't need to take it personally, but to say that all Christians are all about love and peace is just not true. That's all. I mentioned Eric Prince of Blackwater because you asked for modern day examples of a person or group using christianity to kill others. He is a perfect example of that. What about the white supremacists, KKK, Aryan Nation? Who want to obliterate Jews and gays and minorities? It exists. The bottom line is that you have painted all muslims with a broad brush, and I think everyone just wanted to point out to you that there are violent groups within Islam and Christianity and Judaism.

I would agree that the outburst of "You lie" was not appropriate. The congressman in question apologized to the president and to the public for having done so, however.

The death panels are not far from the truth. The original version of the health care bill stipulated that there will be a standard of care for the elderly that all physicians must adhere to by law under penalty of a fine. If the quality of one's life in advanced years does not meet the criteria of the cost of providing the remaining quality years, expensive surgeries and procedures will be denied. This is quite literally what was in the original version of the health care bill. Whether it remains in the final version has yet to be seen.

I would agree mistakes were made at the onset of the Iraq War as to underestimating the terrorists' determination to take the fight there. But the surge worked. As to the Afghanistan War, that is the war Obama believed to be the right war. The request for another surge has, so far, been denied. The top generals are expressing openly their confusion as to the strategy as are the soldiers who have been left there without the promise of any reinforcement. That war has to at least be attempted to be won by another surgery by this president or he must get our guys and gals out of there immediately. He has been "pondering" that decision going on three months now. Do you see a strategy in that?

So, it's up to you and me and other decent people to make that call, isn't it? Obviously, both were far from anything resembling moral acts. But I would beg to differ with you on the premise that those who justified carrying out those horrors thought they were doing it for moral reasons. They were doing it out of their own fear, ignorance and arrogance. They just didn't want to call it that. It's exactly why a moral compass is necessary. Without it, how would you or me or any of us who find that kind of behavior abhorrent admit what they did was even wrong?

Do me a favor, ask any senior how they feel about their Social Security payments.
Seniors revolted en masse against Bush tinkering with their Social Security.
That includes Consevative seniors. The same ones that take advantage of medicare, but are against any government administered healthcare plan.
Do me a favor.

Ask any of the folks who are paying for these benefits whether they have any expectation of receiving benefits themselves.

Social Security and Medicare are unfunded programs that are essentially welfare.

As a practical matter, they cannot be eliminated overnight, but they can be phased out over a period of time if our elected officials grow a spine.

Still, in every major recent poll of which I posted the results a while back, conservative republicans combined with just conservative independents have a huge lead over liberals and democrats. It's the conservative democrats who are taking a second look now at where their party is heading and don't like what they are seeing.

Daily Horoscope for December 26

Aquarius

If you're still happily munching chocolates and all sorts of other goodies, you'll have to take yourself in hand at some point during the coming fortnight. Maybe you'll have to compensate for all the festive over-eating by taking more exercise or cutting back on the calories, or perhaps you'll decide that you can't delay giving up smoking any longer. As Mercury turns in your twelfth house of secrets, messages you receive at this time may be very subtle or contain hidden meanings meant only for your understanding.
