BTW....Lisa is way off base and definately has an attitude regarding authority. I'd be curious in knowing how many times she/he has been stopped for traffic violations.

Trooper TJ wrote: No Lisa like you and the other civilians, we have opinions too. And unlike you civilians we actually know whats really going on with the use of the cars and fuel. You guys just think we abuse the fuel for our own use. I was simply stating that there is no pleasing most civilians. They ask us to do our job, write tickets, stop the speeders on their roads, but.....When we do that job and its THEM that gets caught, all of a sudden its not what they want anymore. And I'm calm as a cucumber, I'm voicing my opinion because it effects me, you are voicing yours why? As a victim of violent crime I can't afford to live as blissfully ignorant as some of these writers complaining about gas. I appreciate the efforts of Troopers and laughed at your response because you are right. There is no winning sometimes when people are ignorant and make assumtions. I hope you and those who dedicate your lives to keep CT safe keep on doing the right thing regardless of these idiots. The anti-law sentiment seems like an epidemic. If citizens would be half as disgusted when their friends and neighbors are being brutalized and butchered in our homes and communities, maybe we wouldn't need to be policed as much. Adults have a hard time making appropriate decsisions and the truth is, if they aren't doing anything wrong, they don't have to worry about being stopped. No wonder why some cops think our citizens are morons. There were so many uneducated comments made on this blog it was shameful. Thanks for putting up the good fight. It is appreciated by those of s who can't afford to be blissfully ignorant anymore.

Missing the point

This is getting really bad. The police get the gas because it's in their union contract!! Why, because the State of Connecticut didn't want to pay them more money or hire more troopers. The State of CT decided to give them gas compensation instead of higher pay. I would bet they don't make as much as other state police.

Lisa wrote: I think they shouldnt be allowed to fuel the cars on thier days off. Why should the taxpayers pay for them to do their errands. I see the wives driving the cars which should not be allowed. that's bs and you know it - we are not allowed to drive the cars and if a trooper was ever caught doing that he would be fired on the spot. If you did see that you should have called the state police with a plate number and reported it.

Trooper TJ wrote: <quoted text> Yes overtime most certainly has to be approved and NOOOO we do not get it helping motorists on our so called "OFF" time. I almost missed my child's birthday party because of an idiot motorist who RAN OUT OF GAS and decided to park in the middle of the road. But I graciously pushed his car off to the side (BY hand) and waited with them until fuel arrived, instead of choking him out for being an idiot. Of course all you civilians kept on driving instead of offering to help me push I have a story too. I was driving my husbands truck home and the transmission started going out on it. My husband was following me in his crusier but guess what??? He had to pull over and help some dumb **** who ran out of gas instead of making sure I didn't get killed on the highway with our 2 kids, mother and step father in the vehicle. I finally made it home with out his help but not without the truck stalling out serveral times and almost being killed so here's the point, the free gas is not really free - the price paid is much higher than a dollar amount. Sometimes it comes at the cost of your own families safety becuase you, the public, come first

Trooper TJ wrote: We just can't win with you people. Drive fast we get yelled at for breaking the law. Drive slow we get yelled at for taking to long to assist you. Just for the record we drive faster than the flow of traffic to A: observe more than just the same car. B: Keep the traffic flowing instead of creating a log jam. and C: so that we don't make you nervous and think we are following you. Honestly can't you guys think of something better to do than put your 2 cents in where you can't even see the big picture? If you are on your day off....Do you stop and assist motorists? I DO and I don't get paid for it. And I often miss out on my fun day because of YOU. And to thank me for this, you want me to pay for the gas to serve you? I'ld rather drop my car off and take the extra money. I really can not believe how selfish you people are sometimes. We are the greatest guys in the world when we are helping you, but we are dirt when we aren't. UNREAL. Trooper, you are right, you cannot compete with these people who don't know what it's like. We would love the extra money instead of the car that's like a lead weight around our trooper's necks. It baffles me to no end that these are the people that you risk your life for everyday. I have to say that the ones on here bashing law enforcement are probably criminals that have been busted. Please remember that they're lots of us who know what you do and what your family goes through as well. Thanks for your service and sacrifices.

Would you grieve it if your company stopped paying your perk's all of a sudden? 3) They CAN have their family in their vehicles off duty. 4) They are required to provide assistance when off duty if they happen across something. 5) No FAMILY members or anyone else is allowed to drive their cars. 6) Public Safety Officials are afforded an exemption regarding use of cell phones in a vehicle, when conducting business. Then step 4) Why dont they? Thats a bunch of Bull. You forgot to put what is worth helping out. Like say a massive manhunt for a shoplifter?

Remember this, Troopers pay taxes too! We all pay for ourselves... Take the cars and pay us like the surrounding State Police agencies! I would love the extra money. The State can rewrite the law book and take us off 24/7 duty. Then the civilians that we cover can sit and wait for someone to answer their call for help a little longer. Just wait for that Trooper ONDUTY to get there, it shouldnt take long when he or she is covering 4 towns and a stretch of highway by themselves!
