Rowland should not be working in the public sector or with public funds, he is a felon and not trustworthy.

Jarjura is probably getting kickbacks now.
Rowland shouldn't be in any public office and he also should never get a state pension.
He's a felon.

This loser gets a 100,000 dollar a year and a state pension. I would like to see as the greeter at wallmart.

You can't give a black eye to a city that already has one. All the State has to do is cut off all fundings to Waterbury and let it run itself since it wants to be autonomous. Its own citizen will have an easy answer come next election. This job is the equivalent of making Rowland the Director of a battered and abused women shelter. Truth is stranger than fiction.

"We knew there'd be that initial burst of shock and awe," he said, "but people have sort of moved on now."
Who does he think has "moved on"? Just because the media has lost interest does not mean that the people whose trust he squandered cannot still be offended.
I liked Jarjura before this whole deal. Now he seems like he's been hiding his true colors all along - everything he's said about this Rowland deal has been shady and misleading. Even outright lying.
Rowlnad should not be in the job he's been given, especially because he's getting a taxpayer-funded paycheck, let alone a taxpayer-funded pension!!!
Mayor Jarjura, you should be ashamed of yourself for offending the people - who put your butt back in office - in such an egregious way.

I couldn't have said it better, I totally agree with every word you've said.

this is why you don't give a job to a convicted public official.our corrupt mayor jarjura must owe johnny boy some kickbacks promised to him after he got out of jail.waterbury has been a cess pool for a long time and 1 person can not fix it.as far as caruso making a stink about ethics and questioning this, is the fat pot calling the skinnier kettle black.rowland should have just gone into a completely private sector job or go do speeches, john doesnt give two hoots about waterbury, john cares about john and the connections he has to make money.if any of us went to jail we would not be able to be hired for this job due to our criminal record.

The only obvious thing about this is the Democrats still hate Rowland. It has nothing to do with any other concerns.

Maybe be people can cut everyone involved here a little slack. He did pay his debt to society. Maybe during "Holy Week" people can be a little more forgiving. If we aren't going to let people who come out of jail earn a living, then maybe we should go back to crucifying the convicted. I think not!

Ever hear of oversight? Do you really think the City of Waterbury is giving him a blank check? It's OK to allow criminals with violent crimes and burglary a chance but a person that can be an asset to Connecticut is not supposed to have the chance because he is the hated John Rowland.

The Chamber of Commerce in Waterbury has been Hijacked...It now is used for possible money laudering and political corruption. Jarjura's private real estate ventures shoud be investigated. I believe at least one with the brother of developer Robert V. Matthews, a friend of Rowland, who got millions in loans and tax favors from the State of CT and cities like New Haven. Rowland can double in income tax free on his city approved expense account. Where is any oversght...Oh, the Waterbury Chamber of Commerce bought its present location from Robert V. Matthews. Look back to any ex-convict in Waterby, ex-mayor Joseph Santopietro. Of course that obese Jarjura is "outraged"--That is the same talk coming out of Rowland's office when his corrupt world was unraveling. Enough here for an IRS Audit and State Investigation of Waterbury and Rowland. Insider information. Tax free gifts for a great lifestyle?

How do you propose that John Rowland survive? According to his probation he has to remain in Connecticut. He has paid his due to society, its now time for the Courant and others to move on and leave the guy alone. He was a great governor who made broke the law and paid his dues. By the way, why does the Courant fail to mention that both of its star witnesses against Rowland have themselves ended up on the wrong side of the law. Is it because one of them Chris Link is a big advertiser in the Courant, come to think of it I never remember Link advertising in the Courant before he became the Courant's star witness against Rowland. What's up with that arrangement? And why does M. Jodi Rell consistently get a pass from the Courant, did she help bring Rowland down to advance her career. These questions and more will never be answered when its just as easy to drag Rowland through the mud again. Shame on the Courant and these two legislators.

I think it,s wrong to give him a job at all, none the less 95,000 dollars a year. He hurt a lot of people during his tenure and doe,s not deserve this. Let him go find his own job, on his own, with no help from the state, period.

Get real people get angry over something that happens for a couple of days and then it dies down. The political machine inWaterbury owes Rowland and they must reward him. Remember he took care of them. That is how it works. It is called corruption.

Other convicted felons do not get a $100,000 a year job, or do they. What did Rowland do for you? I applaud the Courant for keeping us informed about what is going on in our state.. Just think no press, bring on the corruption.

Jarjura is a total boob and embarrasment. How can he justify hiring Rowland? People in Waterbury should be ashamed of their dumpy city and moronic Mayor.

How could Rowland's Federal Parole Officer approve this? Rowland should have a public time sheet of where he has been and who he saw. I, as a taxpayer and former Chamber member, to not want taxpayer & Chamberdollars(eg Rowland unaudited expense accout) used to entain Rowland's friends and wife Patty or put gas in her car, under the guise of "Business" Who now is paying for membership at the Waterbury Country Club and the bar/dinners tabs?

Caruso the high and mighty God of ethics, doubt it. Its over he is just mad becasue nobody in their right mind would hire him to do a job like that nor is he qualified.

Waterbury has made a decision move on to other things people!!!!!!

There are no more isolated, misguided legislators in Hartford than Caruso and Urban. It's unfortunate that they can't find more important things to do with their time than butt into business that does not involve them in any way, shape, or form. Dems need to start looking for primary candidates!
