Is driving and texting dangerous? Absolutely! Is driving tired or driving while groggy from cold medicine equally dangerous? I would say yes and it probably happens just as often. So do we start regulating people's sleep volume or make it a crime to drive while sick?
I'm all for keeping reckless drivers in check and maintaining a safe road system. However, I can't see the need for MORE police actions or spying on drivers. It's not bad enough that in every major city there is a camera on every corner, street and traffic light? Now we're going to have police "spotters" lurking about, just waiting to "Get Cha!"..... Welcome to the police state!
For those of you who might think that is a completely irrational fear only cried by conspiracy theorists, that's alright. Everyone is entitled to an opinion. I suppose I'm just an extremist wacko who happens to think that more often than not we wake up with fewer and fewer liberties each day and that the government scarily over steps their boundaries at an alarming rate.
Well, lets try this angle...."That's why the NHTSA grant will pay for "spotters on overpasses" and other roadways who could identify drivers while they type". We are trillions in debt with no signs of slowing down. People are losing their homes, their jobs, having to decide whether to pay for food or medicine and if my generation sees a cent of social security it'll be a miracle.
Can we really argue the case for a federal agency (in which ALL are notoriously inefficient) to use tax dollars for the sole purpose of paying police officers to stand around on an overpass looking for drivers who are texting? Isn't the thought of paying someone to sit in a vehicle and simply look at passing traffic a little ridiculous? All the while driving aimlessly about wasting expensive gasoline in large trucks, which I'm sure will be purchased in order to aide as a high vantage point.
It's bright ideas like this that makes us the greatest country in the world. God bless America!

A Texter almost killed me on my Harley in Keene, NH. Citizens should not text and drive. But paying snitches to inform is wrong. DCF was allegedly looking for liars to make false reports and to spy on families for a percentage of the take. A man was allegedly offered help in getting a gun permit even though he had a DUI, smokes crack, and professes he wants to have sex with young boys and girls after I proposed civilian oversight of police legislation to Tony Guglielmo and former Rep. Mordasky in Stafford Springs, Connecticut. Initials P.C. allegedly got dibs on my rental properties that I spent 100's of thousands of dollars and years fixing up:

So, committing crimes for police, being a snitch, and helping collect revenue, take away kids, and confiscate property does pay in Connecticut. That is why I left to live in Brattleboro, Vermont. I was also told by Stafford Officer Desso who is also LT of the guards, Storrs prison, that I was kicked out of Connecticut upon my release from prison. I got a year in prison for being attacked on my property after I had proposed Civilian Oversight of Prison legislation. Ritt Goldstein proposed Civilian oversight of police too. He then got attacked on his property. Ritt fled to Sweden so terrorized by police, he sought political asylum. word search his name. Yeah, don't text, but also don't be a criminal scumbag for lawyers, judges, and especially for organized crime, the Connecticut State Police who are liars and perjure themselves in courts.
