So a guy tries to break into the womans house. She shoots him in the face with a paintball gun. And they arrest HER?!?!?! Thats a real cracker-jack bunch of cops we have here in Vernon! I'll bet it took the brains of half a dozen men to figure out that shooting someone in defense of your child and property is illegal.

Maybe this father should sign that petition for the law not allowing paintball guns in CT that a Portland mother was putting out there.

First of all -- hit by one paintball, but she fired four. Second of all -- you have no idea whether he was "terrorizing" anyone. I agree with the poster in the fourth and fifth comments, and I trust her. It's likely he was returning for his belongings. Reverse the genders in this case and everyone would be absolutely piling on the guy for shooting the poor lady in the face, and everyone knows it, including you, I'm pretty sure. I cannot imagine that anyone in the mainstream would use the phrase "terrorizing the father of her child." It's also the case that absolutely no one would be doubting the mother for saying she was returning for her belongings. She absolutely deserved to be arrested for what she did because she bruised the guy -- in the face -- with a paintball and tried to do it four times. You have no evidence that he was there for any sinister intentions. He may have been, but you don't know it. It's likely, again, according to this commenter, that he wasn't. But that's how popular culture works, like it or not. Society judges someone as "innocent until proven guilty" with cases like this, but only if their sex hormone is estrogen.

If it helps you feel any better about the massive injustice of my comment, consider it me just evening the score for the nasty victim blaming rhetoric we get on this and similar boards when there is a report on a rape.

If he was abused by this woman, he should do what other abused partners do when going to pick up their things...call the cops and ask them to come with you (or call a domestic violence crisis center and ask for an escort).

Where were the children when this was happening?
If they were home then DCF should get involved and do an investigation. After all it really is the children that get hurt through all of this (Just ask any DCF employee)!
