My name is Sangar and I'm a former student of Gibbs College Norwalk, CT . I came accross your story on the web, and I understand your situation. I attended the school for 2 yr, and just like everyone that went to Gibbs my credit has been damaged due to this school. I am trying to put together a law suit since the school is closing as of March 09. Because of the time frame I believe the law suite would be against Career Education Corp because they owned Gibbs College. Seeing that Sallie Mae is a lender there would also be suit against them. CEC had to know that there school wasn't accredited. So much information was misleading. I've tried to obtain my transcript so I can complete my degree some where else and they will not release it to me because they claim I owe money. If you don't mind me asking. Have you heard from any other people about this situation? What have you done about your situation? I look forward to hearing from you soon. You may want to check out this website http://www.consumeraffairs.com/education/gibb... . The link is just info on other students in the same situation. I am also trying to find people who have already been through the process. I was made aware of a lawsuit in 2003-2004 against Gibbs. If you have any question feel free to ask me. I'm currently looking to gather students together to file suit.

I went to Gibbs sold on the notion that I was going to learn 3d animation. Atleast that was what I was promised, but I was put into all webdesign. I was there 5 terms and no 3d. Needless to say I dropped out. Now I had passed all my classes but was put on academic probation or something like that. Needless to say I never got the education I asked for and I am now in debt in student loans.

Well this is awkward. I started Gibbs College the Boston Campus back in May 2007 first in Graphic design than switch my major to business admin, Since I work Full-time I could only attend evening classes because I switched it my graduation date was prolong to September 2009. In January 2009 which was the start of the new term. my schedule was put back to day classes without my permission. So I called the registrar to change it, but was told that I couldn't because they don't have my classes available for evening no more. I was furious and perplexed. I was going to switch to Bay State College, but than in march i received an email from the registrar again stating that she could get me into classes if I was available. So decided to call her back only to be told the same thing again, "some of the classes are not available for evening". Later on in the year I see advertising for day and evening classes and finally decide,(wanted) to finish with Gibbs college re register in August 2009 for evening classes that were set to begin in October. Well its October I haven't received any scheduling or notification. So the other day I decided to call my admissions rep. here are his exact words.(AR" Nobody called you, or notified you?")(Me: "About what?")(AR: " Unfortunately evening classes are not available right now, we don't know when they will be available at the moment, but I will keep you updated.") So now I am confused and furious. I just want to finish what I started with school as soon as possible, because my classes are not available. I'm stuck in this awkward position again. what should I do?

I know that the Gibbs College in RI is actully decent. Unfortunitly I went to the wrong one in Norwalk. I would sit in class and ask the teachers questions and they would tell me to read the book because they did not know. None of the teachers are quilified to teach and neither was the dean. They are sales people more then a college.

A few years ago 60 Minutes did a story on Gibbs. They showed how all they were after was money and the degrees were basically useless.

Is anyone aware if there actually is a class-action lawsuit in the works against Gibbs, Norwalk? I actually work with another person who also graduated from Gibbs. I think they should be held accountable for the lies they told all of us and for destroying the credit of many students. And for anyone that would like to tell me to stop whining and get off my ass and work, I hold two jobs and do military service just to help pay off the exorbitant student loans I now have.

I just pulled my sons student loan information from NSLDS and found an interesting entry. My son attended Gibbs College in 2006 and 2007 in Vienna Virginia. According to the NSLDS his loans were paid to Sanford Brown College. Sanford Brown College did not aquire Gibbs until 2008. If his loans were paid to Sanford College it seems that Sanford should be required to uphold the original contract he enter with Gibbs. Any info from anyone here would be great.
He had six hours of internship to finish when we were called out of town for a death in our family. This was right at the end of everything and he was told that he could finish when he returned. He did but Gibbs would not accept it because the class was over.
