This stinks. It was really nice in there. Hopefully a new establishment will be set up in there soon.

The food they served was horrible. The mashed potatoes were instant. When we mentioned that to the waiter he was rude until he went back to the kitchen and verified they they were indeed instant. I can't even imagine why an "upscale" restaurant would serve instant potatoes. What a joke. Good atmosphere for a drink, horrible food. I'm surprised they lasted this long.

Nice place to look at, but the food and service were not good. In fact it was way not good. Atmosphere is not everything. Put some thought into the menu and training your servers!

Surprising since they spent so much time and money opening the place, but I always thought the inside was too disjointed...the way it was designed to use the space around the ballroom they had was poorly done

Joe Blacks was a nice place. The problem was that prices were too high and customer services was lacking.

A lot of people went there and ended up complaining in the end - and management was dismissive. I hope someone else takes it over. It's a great space.

Why aren't places like Trumble Kitchen, Max, and Peppercorn out of business, they're in Hartford? Grow some brains.

The space was interesting but the food was terrible. It doesn't surprise me at all that the restaurant failed.

You forgot to mention Mortons, that place must be hurting since it is in Hartford! Geez, we wonder why nothing can stay open in hartford. All the people from the burbs don't care about downtown, pathetic!

You seem to be one of very few here who had a good experience. It's a pretty space with poor service, mediocre food, and high prices. There are many options downtown that are far better.

They are there today, gone soon. Nobody wants to go into hartford, too much crime. You need to grow up little boy. Talk is cheap when you are hiding behind a computer.

I'm not surprised they are OOB. I went there once and ordered a glass of cabernet, and put a ten on the counter. The bartender said, "that'll be $11.50".

NO BIG SUPRISE. I WATCHED THE RENOVATION AND HAD TWO THOUGHTS:

1. ANOTHER HARTFORD LAND MARK BEING DESTROYED, AND;

2. WHY WOULD ANYONE SPEND SO MUCH MONEY RENOVATING, WHEN EVERY OTHER RESTURANT ON PRATT STREET HAS FAILED, EXCEPT "NO FISH TODAY".

MY PERSONAL PREDICTION WAS THAT JOE BLACKS WOULD CLOSE WITHIN 18-36 MONTHS.

DOWNTOWN HARTFORD IS THE DEAD ZONE.
