The 95 was the greastest team I have ever watched around here since I have been alive hands down! Im a little biased because I have a brother and a cousin who played on that team, but there is no team in the Valley since then that could have came within 40 points. Ernie Mac was the most dominant post player ive ever seen and if you doubled him Micheal Goodin could hang twenty on ya and if you guarded him then Chris Hoskins would put up 20 and so could Jeremiah Bean and Jason Russell. If it had not been for them playing the worst game of their lives in the state tournament they would have a state tournament trophy hanging somewhere. Its not even close.

By the way Dennis Cline was a great coach and anyone who thinks he can't coach remember this everyone of those boys on the 95 had one coach from grade school on and his name was Dennis Cline so somebody had to teach them about the game.
just another opinion

I also think the 95' team was awesome-I went to Murfreesboro to watch them play and it made me sick-I hate when people blame the ref but I have to say that that was a terrible called game-I felt so sorry for Ernie Mac standing there with his hands straight up in the air getting foul after foul called on him-as for Cline I don't really think he much coached these boys,I think they pretty much coached themselves-it was like they all shared one mind-I guess that is what comes from playing together for so long-they were truly fun to watch-sorry this is so long-lol

I played on the 95 team and we could beat any of those teams and did except for the 78 team that went to state. We played the boys from 2001 in a scrimmage and out of shape and still hung 30 on. I love all those boys, but they could not carry our tennis shoes and until someone wins the state tournament we will always be the best.
I totally agree with you 100%...I loved watching you boys play ball that year!!! Im much older then you boys but 95 was by far the best team..Thanks for the memories!!!

ok coalminers daughter, Ron Vannoy has a mother, daughter, an ex-wife, a dog,a fish, well ya get the picture, just like emily england he has family. Now didn't you try to get everyone not to bash her because her innocent family might read it and get their feelings hurt? Ron's daughter could think her dad is the best coach in the world and now you have made her doubt him, shame on you
YES, RON VANNOY DOES HAVE A DAUGHTER.....ME! Dad wasn't hired at the Gap because his sister was on the school board. He had a choice between VICE PRINCIPAL and COACH and he chose to coach! It takes more than one vote to get a job. And as for him moving his SISTER-IN-LAW into the county to play? He only has one sister-in-law and she WAS A CHEERLEADER! You guys need to look back at your yearbooks and check our family tree before you go accusing Dad of things he never did. And as far as favoritism, the best 5 players were on the floor at all times. As a Coach, you do what it takes to win. I have seen ever game he coached in my lifetime, except 2, and I remember hundreds where every player got playing time. He was one of the most caring coaches I have ever seen. He was always giving money to players who didn't have money to eat on when we stopped on away games. He cared more about player's classroom performance, than their performance on the floor. Don't judge him because you're a Cline fan. Dad and Dennis coached together for years and were friends.

I doubt this will ring a bell for you but the name Joseph Amanett might have had something to do with it. 2001 team didnt have anything on the 95 team and if you read on this forum 2 of them have already said that.

I have never been to this site before but I would like to make a comment. For one thing myself, both brothers, my son and all of the rest of my family went to PVHS. I would like to thank the person that listed my brother as one of the best players of PVH history. My brother is not with us anymore and he would be very proud to have his name listed. To be honest both my brothers were great players at the school. There has been numerous great players at that school over the years along with coaches. As for the Vannoy family I think that they deserve a little more respect than what this site has given them. You can look the county over and you could not find a family that has been more supportive to both PVHS
and CGHS. I have know the family all my life and have only know them to be fair and have the best interest of the schools and the county at heart.

First, let me clear one thing do not have the impact to pt my panties in a wad! LOL...and you are not taking away my high school memories; As a mother of an 11 year old son who just went thru a basketball season with a coach who was pathetic, I would appreciate the opportunity for my son to play for Dennis anytime-elementary thru college. and yes, I am stating my opinion, as you are, and as Caleb was; Your statements are not all based on him as a Coach-you implied he was unfair, showed favoritism and made comments about his son... A coaches job is also to make an impact on kids, sounds like he did. Most coaches endure claims they show favoritism..etc, and to be honest with you--the whole time I was at PVHS, I saw favoritism in classrooms, sports, homecoming queen name it; glad I did not up and quit everytime I did not get something or my way...LOL
FINALLY! A topic about something good!! CMD's panties!!
