I was just wondering who chose to put up a new red light in Harrogate and why?

But, I would say Pete DeBusk had it installed.

I guess that Pete DeBusk had it put there for his big building on the hill.

If you don't have a red light there you won't have to stop and look at Pete's memorial to himself. The main entrance to LMU never had a traffic light for all the students ,staff, and the many visitors to the main campus area. His arrogant, egotistical attitude knows no bounds.LMU would have been a much better university if Pete had never been put on the board of trustees. This great philantropist who pays his Central America workers 4 or 5 dollars per day has no regard for anyone but himself. Many caring and helpful professors and staff have been terminated or chose to leave because of Pete. His micromanagement went so far as to tell professors how neat to keep their desks and offices. better

When are they going to uncover this redlight or is it just there for nothing? I think it will cause more accidents especially in the winter. This is on a hill where you have to stop if you are going toward Middlesboro. Isn't that a little foolish? How many redlights does a small town like this need? Who chose to put this up? Did the taxpayers have to pay for it? City of Harrogate, how about some answers here.

If I had my choice those lights would be put where Pete wouldn't be too comfortable.

Well, they have the light covers off, and the caution lights flashing. I really believe this new light will cause problems for the drivers. This is a very poor location for this light to have been installed. You will have to stop coming up the hill on either side of the main road. I think this will be a real traffic hazard.

So let me get this straight.. people in the tri-state area still do not have a four lane road to Knoxville, yet we're wasting cash on red lights??? Yeah, makes LOTS of sense.

This light was put up for DCOM for Pete DeBusk new medical school. That is what is top priority in this town. Or it seems to be anyway. I would like to know if this traffic light came out of the taxpayers money or where it came from and if Pete just said I want a traffic light and got it. Did the city of Harrogate have any say at all about this??

My question is....Why was the new traffic light installed in front of DCOM when they have only 150 students in attendance and not in front of the main entrance to the campus where it has 2,000 or so students? WHICH ONE WOULD HAVE MADE MORE SINCE?????????I don't get it..

I wonder if Satan himself came to LMU and offered to install one of his furnaces to provide free heat to the LMU campus if the offer would be accepted.Would he be put on the board of trustees and given free rein to do anything he wanted to do? Would he be given the right to fire good, experienced employees and replace them with his trusted associates. On second thought, It seems like LMU has already agreed to a similar deal.

Looks like they are getting one. They've cut the places in the road where the sensors will go.

I agree that the light would have been better off there at the main entrance. I don't know how many wrecks I have seen there over the many years. I foresee this as the first instance of DCOM encroaching on the small town of Harrogate. Well, the first truly visible instance.

I'm assuming the reason why they put the light in front of the DCOM building is because next year, the building is going to house 2 med school classes in addition to a nursing program, nursing anesthetist program and a PA program in 2009. This is in addition to all the faculty and staff whom are obviously working in the building as well. It isn't going to be just 150 students in the building as "Traffic light Harrogate" pointed out. As it stands, it will be a major traffic hazard if they don't put a light there. I can't comment on why they don't have a light in front of the main entrance to LMU, but I do know they have one toward the side of campus, as if you are going to Middlesboro. If ever I'm at the LMU campus, I usually end up using that light instead of the main entrance, just because it is safer. While I know you all hate Pete Debusk, can we cut DCOM some slack? The students there are going to school so that they can make your health and your community a better place. They genuinely want to help you all and make your lives better.

Within the next couple of years everyone will be thankful for the light. This year of course there is only 150..freshman class. Next year they're will be 150 or more new freshman and possibly more than 150 sophmores because of transfer... So on and so forth.. I'm starting to understand why they put it in.

Just FYI the original traffic light was installed
at LMU main entrance across from the Village Market, the main entrance changed locations after
the traffic lights were installed.

IF you add up a total of 150 times 4 you have 600. The House of Pete has 4 exits if you count the farm road. What you have is a public nuisance for people wanting through Harrogate. Most of them wouldn't miss LMU if it was bulldozed back into open farmland. If Pete, the generous 5 dollar a day employer,is going to continue to be the dictator over what is supposed to be a memorial to Abraham Lincoln, a good and decent man concerned about the rights of all Americans, bulldozing LMU back into bare land would probably be a vast improvement over his continuing dictatorship.

The farm road is for Maintenance and Security. No students. Some don't think it's a public nuisance.
