Maybe he is trying for the sympathy factor since he is facing the federal law suit concerning his attempted coverup of the convicted child molester Edlers under his tenure!

If enough compelling evidence is presented that he was aware of Jason Elder's actions, but did not act, he could face criminal charges.

Killing animals for fun? My whole family hunts, and I can tell you that while they may have fun hunting, they are not killing the animals for fun. We EAT them! It is providing food for their families. If you choose not to hunt or eat wild meat, then don't. That's your choice. But don't just ASSUME that all hunters are out there just to kill animals for fun. Not everyone can afford to go to the grocery and spend 11 or 12 dollars for a 3 lb pack of burger, especially when you have a big family to feed. Maybe you don't eat meat? But if you do, I have news for you... Any meat you eat was once a real live animal that someone killed! Oh, my, maybe you didn't realize that. SURPRISE!! Your comment just shows your stupidity. I personally hope that he is doing well and wish him a speedy recovery.

You know, by the time you figure everything in, it costs a lot more than 2.99 a pound to get a deer from the woods to your table. Just face it, you're not doing it to feed your family. This isn't 1860.

By the time you figure what in? The cost of your ammo? Or hunting license? It may not be 1860, but some of us still have family farms to hunt on, are landowners, so you can take more than 2 or 3 deer, and most cost saving of all is the fact that none of us have to pay a "butcher" to work up any meat for us, because we do it all ourselves. Tenderloin, jerky, burger, sausage, roasts, steaks, etc. There are still some of us out here that can and will do for ourselves, even if that means putting in a little effort and work instead of paying someone else because we're too lazy. Maybe we should factor in the cost of the freezer bags and plastic wrap as well. Hmmm.. Still can't figure how it's costing me much more than time and effort to hunt our own food.

Well said 'news flash'!! How I WISH my husband had a place to hunt. Grocery store prices are ridiculous and that would save us so much money. Oh and personally I hope Ernie is ok too!

I support hunters that hunt for food! I do not support sports hunters who hunt for trophies! With that being said I believe that hunting, and fishing, is a right and should remain as such. Another factor in hunting wild game is that you don't have to worry about what is in it! How many hormones and other chemicals have been injected into what is sold at the supper markets? People need to get back to the land grow their own food, hunt if they can, instead of supporting corporations like Monsanto that are trying to control the food supply!

That's right! You'd never hear of there being anything unhealthy or harmful in an animal taken straight out of the wild....

Hunt for food is fine. Back in the day most hunters ate what they killed. But now letting kids under 10 run around in a "pen" and kill a deer to get his picture in the paper is sick. I would not want my preacher out killing anything whether he ate it or not.
