Im just curious, how long are the people of this town gonna let brit run the basketball program???? Didnt he do enough damage the first year? I went to a few games this season & couldnt believe my eyes & whats worse worse is that hutchins & the spanish guy whos supposed to be the atheletic director walk around proud of this dumbass that runs this basketball program. We all know davis isnt gonna get a real coach cause his son is starting & seems to be brits favorite.... how ironic! Whats wrong with the parents? Why do they allow him to stay coach, dont they realize without them or the ball players .... there would be no team! Grow some balls parents of players & get that coach out of there! Ive heard stories of things he has done & id be fighting the world if had to be to get him out the door. PRINCIPLE, BOARD MEMBERS, AD, PARENTS "WAKE UP.... GET A NEW COACH"

I mean really? Wonder if the stories you heard were true? Wonder if it's because they lost this year? Why don't people just shut the f*ck up about the sh*t and actually support one thing and not try to cause so much sh*t because they want a certain person to be coach. You want him gone shut the f*ck up and go to college and get your degree then go and be coach somewhere if you think you can do better.

You know, you people think your bashing the school system and the coaches.. don't you realize that these are kids your talking about and putting down. The two of you that questioned. Mercer has basketball and baseball teams, I take it that maybe your not from here, I don't know but whatever the case may be, you certainly wouldn't like it if we as parents of these kids bashed your children and their abilities, which is what you are doing. I dont' disagree that there are some issues with the school system and some of the coaches across the board at the school, but we wouldn't have a program at all for our kids to be involved with if it wasn't for them, because I can assure you they do not get paid nearly enough for the extra time they put in at practices, games, helping the boosters fundraise to support the program and other things that pull them away from their own families. They do it for the love of the sport. Do they have their favorites.. of course they do, is that fair? Well, everyone will have their favorites, but it is not fair when other kids are treated differently they need to leave their favoritisims at the door. Also, if most people will remember we had an awesome basketball and baseball team last year. Baseball went to State. Most of the athletes from both of those sports were the same and we graduated them all last year. It will take time to re-build from loosing the outstanding talent we had. We do still have some great talent, but they are young so it will take a year or two.

Just remember when your talking about how good a team is not, your bashing children, kids not necessarily the coaches or the programs. Because they are adults and this stuff will simply roll of their back, it tends to stick with kids and follows them (some of them anyway).

please don't bash this program just because of the kids! Things may not be right in all areas but the players are incredible & very good young men, each & every one of them & that I know for a fact!

I'm not bashing children. I'm bashing the coaches, parents, school administrations and society that places such a premium on athletics when it is nothing more than a past time. If our students spent half the time practicing academics as they do practicing athletics, perhaps they wouldn't be woefully unprepared for college and/or the workplace. If your child is the captain of the basketball team, has a 4.0 and a 1600 on his SAT and is getting a full ride to Vandy, he is the exception and not the rule. There's almost zero chance of a future in athletics for more than 99% of these children. Being smart, having good study skills and applying yourself will always reap rewards in the real world.

Sorry if you misunderstood my post. I am pro-child. I just hope they don't grow up to be idiots that can only brag about triple doubles in their high school bball days and have very little else to contribute to society.

There are a few I will agree very few that have an exeptional GPA, awesome in athletics and have received and will go to college based on athletic ability I'm not trying to insinuate that they should'nt put more time an effort in their study habits to raise test scores. But it also a double edge sword, I blame part of the testing and low scores and poor study habits to this "no child left behind" program. They are not taught study habits at school like we were, and basically your child is expected to learn the curriculum and move on. Because of this "no child left behind" if a child has the least bit of not understanding, they are tested to be put in some kind of special class simply because the teachers have to move on and aren't allowed to spend any time helping the student simply because they are dictated by the state on how and what to teach.

As far as the sports.. both of my children are very active in the one or more of the sports programs at school and while they are not a 4.0 student they both do maintain a 3.0. Other than sports in this town, there is absolutely nothing for a child to be involved in. Sports and church are the postiive influenes in this small town. So the reason we as parents put so much into our kids being involved in sports is because we would rather see them involved in these positive things that takes up their time with practices, games, tournaments, community fundraising versus what could possible be doing which is walking the streets, being involved in drugs and/or other negative influences. You know what they say bout idle hands and too much time on your hands.

So you can bash us as parents all that you want if that's what you choose to do. We want our kids to succeed and be successful in life as much as any other parent. The Athletic program(s) do teach more than the sport itself, they learn, discipline, teamwork, competitiveness, routine, schedling, leadership and the willingness to not give up and continue even if they are down and don't win. As a graduate of Mercer County and also a college graduate and now in the professional work environment, I see that the exact disciplines that our kids learn being involved in athletics are the same ones I face every day in my work environment.

Sounds to me like a mad parent whose child probably sucks playing basketball and is mad because they arent getting any playing time. Well, if you suck you sit on the bench. Support your child either way. If he wants to be on the team then be supportive.

Dumb$@#.. The Board doesn't hire the staff, coaches... The only person the board hires is the Supt.. If you don't like the staff, then maybe the Board needs to hire someone besides Dennis Davis. He has had his chance to fix some things.. What has he done? Nothing.

I love high school sports and I travel around everywhere to watch. I will never watch another mercer boys game again as long as Britt is the coach. He has ruined basketball at mercer county. Maybe he should go to spiders practices and really learn how to coach

People hiding behind a computer on trashy topix talking about problems and people. You people of harrodsburg are the most spineless gutless parents I have ever seen! You would rather hide behind a computer rather than confront the situation in person and get directly involved. Do society a favor, don't breed
