The MERCER COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD has spoken. After one more year the 9th graders will be moved from the old Harrodsburg School and that building will no longer be used. Apparently one member of the LOCAL PLANNING COMMITTEE has her feathers ruffled. She has now written a long letter to the editor of the Harrodsburg Herald. She has every right to do that, but her bitter crusade to over rule the MERCER COUNTY SCHOOL is questionable. The citizens of Mercer County elected our school board. The planning committee is unelected and at best was created to advise the school board. As elected school board members IT IS THE DUTY OF THE MERCER COUNTY SCHOOL BOARD to make critical decisions about the school property. They have decided. No one, and that includes members of an appointed committee or self appointed spokepeople, have the right to usurp the duties of the elected body which is given the responsibility of making such decisions. It is decided. Move on people.

I have read the letter in the local paper. Looks like this woman has been part of a committee to study the school buildings and now she has a feather up her rear end about the school board not doing what she wants. Sorry lady, we did not elect you. There was also a story in the paper about the YMCA. They have a grant and they are hell bent on taking over a whole block of land. How silly. Buy the Harrodsburg school property. You will have plenty of space to do your thing and the school board will be rid of something that they don't need. It is a win-win. The letter writer and the so called leader who wishes to overturn the decision of the school board need to shut up now that they have expressed them selves in the local paper.

Apparently one of these women is over the menopause and the other one (who had the long letter in the local paper) is going through the menopause. At least, she sounds menopausal to me. She has been on this crusade ever since Noah built the ark for the flood. And I doubt that her real interest is in keeping the school, but rather that's the place where she has her power and is determined to lead an ongoing battle with the current board of education whose members could not care less about her rants. She is double-dipping (for you who don't know what that means, well it means she's a retired teacher who's come back to the trough like an old hog to get some more slop; she's not satisfied being retired or divorced either one and soo she's got herself a soap box to stand on and act like the town's cryer. And since this school is close to her she don't have to go to far to get to work to teach on days when she's called in to sub and, boy, does that pay really good--a lot more than a regular active classroom teacher gets, so it's only natural that as a double dipper, she wants to keep a gravy train on the tracks forever, cause Rusty ain't coming back--he's always had other interests--and she just can't stand not having her own school building to make a big to-do about not that the board has decided to tear the damn thing down or use it some other way--a way that would not benefit her. If you want to see her in action, go to the next meeting on the subject on the 28th I think and you may see fireworks. But, in the end, who cares if she wants to make an ass of herself and get nothing for doing it. Let her rrave all she wants to. She's climbing up there with Helen Dedman, of the high falutin Dedman family, who thinks that any building over twenty years old is historic and should be preserved at alll costs. Oh, these two women are a big part of what's wrong with Harrodsburg. But come on, Miss Weitzel, get that stob out of your ass and let those in authority, duly elected by the public, do the deciding. And you go back to wrapping bandages for the war.
Wouldn't that be easirel? Surely your guts would stop rumbling and you'd be a sweeter person instead of growing old, looking like a dried lprune or a raisin in the sun.

I guess Scrim Shaw told you, didn't he or sshe, Suckface? If you know that woman you ought to tell her to get herself some millk of magnesia and get her gut cleaned out real g ood. She'sone of those lousy double dipper. the mercer county School si full of them. They retired and found out they didn't get as much money as t hey were used to getting and so the come back to get more. That's why they are re clalled double dippers. If you ask me, they are low lifes who are taking j obs that a new young person just out of college could have. Butno they want it all. They're mostly women and they are selfish bitches.

I hope that the school board sticks by it's guns and don't back down due to the ranting of one woman and the political pressure from the other woman. The plain truth is that there are too many school buildings and one has to go. Why keep the one that is oldest and in need of repair? Why not group the schools closer together in order to avoid so much student transportation? Who cares if the old Harrodsburg High School is old and so called historic? Who cares that it can be viewed as people approach Harrodsburg on 68? What should count when school type things are considered. The kids.
