Whole commission-----ONE BIG JOKE! Whether you agree or disagree and no matter how long this thread lasts, everybody knows it's the truth. Their all like the blind leading the blind. That's what happens when you continue to vote in people that don't have a clue. Apparently they were just voted in for their entertainment value. In their defense they do me me laugh!

I think its sickening . I can already hear the rusty, dusty doors of Harrodsburg starting to close. On the north & south sides. Why ,just the other day , I seen a tumbleweed blowing gently from the west side of lexington st. It was undecided as to where to begin & whistle for the others .
Right on

Ganging up on Rose. What a joke with old commission. Rose is a very knowledge on the issues. Need to clean house. Bubby rattling papers all the time. Charlie talking about ethics. He don't have any.

What has Billy done that is so wrong? I'm just curious!! And yes, I did watch the video and did not find him to be disrespectful at all. He was just trying to get an answer to his question and all Rose would say is that Rodney is her friend. I think she was out of line to give Rodney, someone who is in a lawsuit with the city any information. That's just my opinion.

OK, I think I misspoke, their all a joke except Rose. I watched that video of the city commission meeting where their all giving Rose hell over emailing Rodney Harlow. That whole situation was just like a bunch of clowns. What Rose should of told all of them was she asked Rodney because she wanted someone that wasn't an idiot telling her about the policies. Charlie loosing his cool over basically nothing and Bubby...so stupid he can't even spit out his words. He had to have the Mayor try to explain what he was trying to say.It didn't make much sense when the Mayor said it either. All of them "Clown College Graduates".

Yes, Rodney did such an excellent job as police chief. His handling of Jason Elder should be recorded in text books and taught to generations of law enforcement cadets to come.

Well Rose should watch her back because of all the backstabbing "good ole boys" club. Don't worry, she packs a big gun and knows how to use it. If she needs help, I'll being mine! And I not scared of the "boys".

I'm pretty sure that the Jason Elder mess started long before Rodney's term. He didn't create that mess. I'm also pretty sure that the mess was wrapped up while Rodney was in office.....meaning he did take care of it. Being in the "know" like you seem to be....is there something more about that whole mess that you know and would like to share with the rest of us?

How did he take care of it when it was the Kentucky State Police that had to bring the charges after Harlow was informed and did nothing? What was Rodney's position when Kelty was chief? Did it not continue long into Harlow's term? So it in fact went on right under his nose the entire time. Even after the indictment, he suspended him WITH pay.

Well done.

My understanding on suspension with pay is the Commission makes that decision, not Rodney. If what Rodney did was so "obviously" wrong - why isn't he in trouble? Why aren't the state police checking into why it was mishandled? Like I said, I'm just an outsider looking in, so I don't know how this kinda thing works. I would think there would be some kind of law against "not" following the law or am I just mistaken about the whole system?

You're wrong. There is "wrong" and then there's illegal. He mishandled the situation and it cost him his job.

Consider this. It came out about Jason Elder and the underage girl right before Thanksgiving (November 2010). Yet Harlow kept him in uniform, on patrol, doing the same police work he had been doing all the way up to the day he was indicted on May 11, 2011. Now does that seem smart to you? Especially knowing that as a police officer, he might have to take the stand in front of a jury. That an entire case could hinge on his testimony. He'd look awful cute testifying as a police officer in a jumpsuit and shackles wouldn't he? Do you think that might just possibly compromise a case?

Sure, we all have the right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty- in a court of law. That doesn't apply to our jobs or public opinion. A serious accusation such as that, backed up by evidence should have been enough to, at the very least, got him off the streets. But no. Harlow kept him right out there making arrests and writing tickets up to the day he was indicted.

Poor judgement and incompetence, yes. Illegal, probably not.

Ok, I understand what your saying. I personally thought Jason was nothing but a little creep from the first time I met him, but hey...I think that about lots of people, so who am I? I still don't see how what your saying Rodney did wasn't illegal. Are there not any laws set in place that required him to take him off the streets when even the suspicion of wrong doing came into play? I figure you aleady know this, but it may have not come to light "publicly" about Jason until Nov 2010, but he and his relationship with the Compton girl was the talk of Harrodsburg wayyyyyy before that. If Rodney was negligent in how he handled the whole thing, he was just one in a long line of people that handled it WRONG. The commission should of demanded that he be put on suspension. Without knowing the ins and outs of what truely happened I'm still not sure who was at fault for the whole mess.

I'm not an attorney. I do know that if an adult KNOWS (not suspects) that a minor is being abused (and that includes sex) that it is a class A misdemeanor if you don't report it. The thing is that it's not what you know it's what you can prove. For Harlow to be convicted, a prosecutor would need to prove it in court. No prosecutor is going to charge a police chief unless he's sure he can prove it.

To answer this question "Are there not any laws set in place that required him to take him off the streets when even the suspicion of wrong doing came into play?" Nope. Not that I know of any way.

Now one interesting thing about the lawsuit that has been filed against the city by the victim, is that she claims Ernie Kelty was aware of the abuse. If her attorney can prove this in court, that could end up being very very troublesome for Mr. Kelty.

I'm glad that you "understand what [I'm] saying." I wish more people who have an open mind and listen to the viewpoints of others rather than resorting to personal attacks.

At this point it's hard to tell who knew anything about anything that was happening. Your right about Ernie....I wouldn't want to be in his place right now. You seem to know more about this than anyone else I've listened to on here so I'll ask you - Was the Commission not able to step in here and say "He's going on leave..whether it be with or without pay"? I would think that they had that authority and if they do - why do you think they didn't?

As for understanding you, I'm not going to attack someone for having an opinion, no matter if I think it's wrong or right. On the other hand, I don't mind to tell someone if I think their opinion is wrong.
