When I buy a behind-the-counter decongestant, I give my driver's license number. I don't know about prescriptions because, knock on wood, at 60 years old I still take no prescribed medication.

KASPER, is meant to be a deterent for abusers of scheduled narcotics. My opinion, even though I despise pill heads, is that this method of collection of data violates HIPPA.

I stated my opinion, there's a long list of people and agencies who can access that information, including police officers. I don't know about you, but the caliber of some officers just in Mercer Co. would preclude me wanting ANY of them to have ANY access to my private medical records.

You understand KASPER only pulls prescriptions filled? You further understand that the person most likely to run a check on you is your own provider? I'm all for people having privacy, but I'm also for medical professionals making sure their patients aren't playing them.

If doctors policed themselves and their patients, KASPER would never have been necessary.

Yes I'm sure that you do know what a narcotic is. The reason why I mention that it's a controlled substance is your statement:

"Its[sic] called Control[sic]."

Some things have to be controlled. I realize that's unpopular now days in places like Mercer County, but it's for the good of society.

I'm going to grab at one of your statements"most likely", who are the others? I'm well aware of those who "Dr. shop" I am asking questions about who has access to my private information, If God forbid I ever have to have a painkiller, do I or you really want someone who, with no training to decide if I'm abusing them? Do you know who will pull your information? KASPER does not specify any reasons, if a police officer thinks you might be abusing he/she can flag you. There are many flags that abusers can be identified, this in my opinion is bad law.

Well, given that law enforcement is trained in the use of KASPER and in identifying levels of abuse. In fact, I bet that even joe blow off the street could, without training, determine that a person with multiple scripts issued by different providers during the same period is abusing drugs.

If you believe that HPD will roll on you when you pick up your 7 day script for post surgery pain relief, I think those fears are grossly exaggerated.

Its real easy. I'm talking about Control of people . Not a controlled substance but you probaly knew that . Do you , digger , like to be controlled ? I do not. Controlled Substances have been in effect for many , many yrs. it will eventually be to the point where the drug companies will not make pain control drugs anymore although , the docs at the pain clinics may not agree with that because they do make much dollars . I guess some of you would rather some of us go back to chewing on a stick or a piece of cattle hide if something is stuck in a leg or arm while it is Sawed off. If you say you are sixty years old but you've NEVer TAKEN A PAIN KILLER , I REALLY FIND THAT HARD TO BELIEVE QUITE HONESTLY. I MEAN , WEREN'T YOU A PRODUCT OF THE 60S. & 70S ?? I think that Kasper is just another way to CONTROL & open page or book into our lives and I DON'T Like it.. These computers are already up in ppl's assess as it is......... Type in two words & by God you can find out what your neighbors fav sex position is .

If people didn't abuse them and sell them, then the need for oversight wouldn't exist. When you consider that more people are dying in Kentucky of drug overdoses (a large number of those being pills) than are dying in car accidents, then yes, I believe the need for control is there.

Just because I was in my prime during the 60's and 70's does not mean that I was a drug addict.

If you really think that you are going to be swarmed by the HPD for filling a script for 15 Lortabs after your root canal, then you need to be filling a script for an anti-paranoia medication.

But please, thrill me with your acumen. How are you controlled?
