Hey don't start countin your chickens just now,its starting to look much better in Harrodsburg at this momment, remember what i said earlier about the stock getting to 15.00$ a share and better then exspected demand for glass in the first quarter,at that time corning shares were above 15.00% a share and demand for eagle ware was picking up far faster then what was projected. What i fear most right now is Obama's intent on raising corporate taxes on businesses at home and overseas. So call and e-mail your congressman, senator or even the whitehouse not to do this.It would not only hurt corning,it would hurt both large and small industries in America.Good luck to everyone in Hogtown,P.S. how did that name get started, just curious.

Your statistics are correct. And business is picking up. As far as Obama's plans, you are right again. It will hurt Corning and every business like it in America. Nobody is sitting pretty yet and shouldn't get their hopes up to high. And a word to the wise, clean your hair before you go back after being laid off. There are many solutions to help you if you look around on the 'net and what not. I dont blame you for toking a little green when you've been laid-off. Dont they know its a stress reliever. Hahaha. But to answer your question about "Hogtown" New Yorker, what I know of the nickname just come froms the town high school before they consolidated with the county a few years ago. Their Mascot was a pioneer and they had a "Hog" dressed up as a Pioneer. I guess it looked cooler. Im sure there may be more lore and story with the name but thats all I can attribute it too. Take care all and keep your heads up!

Harrodsburg was given the name "Hog Town" because as late as 1910 it was not uncommon to come to town and find hogs roaming the town streets. This came from George S. Chinn's "History of Harrodsburg and Mercer County." Take that for what it's worth.

Where does one go to that worked there in the 1970's and was exposed to all the asbestos used there raw handed along with trichlorethylene and PCP cleaning agents. Now you end up with ASBESTOSIS and probably will advance into Mesothelioma. I know the Pulmonologist are starting to see it now in the Lexington, Ky offices. It has a latency period of 25-40 years. Meaning you dont get the symptoms until then. Corning IS RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS. Have you guys heard of any cases about this???

Is Corning hiring? Do they usually take this long? I filled out the ap, had an interview and tour and was told I'd get a call or letter. It's been a month and still nothing. Normal?
