Mission Accomplished" refers to a banner titled "Mission Accomplished" that was displayed on the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln during a televised address by United States President George W. Bush on May 1, 2003 and the controversy that followed.
Bush stated at the time that this was the end to major combat operations in Iraq. Bush's assertion—and the sign itself—became controversial after guerrilla warfare in Iraq increased during the Iraqi insurgency. The vast majority of casualties, both military and civilian, occurred after the speech
- Yahoo
But President Bush did announce an end to major combat operations in Iraq.
He said,“In the battle of Iraq, the United States and are allies have prevailed.”
It was that declaration that Bush critics and critics of war used against the president for rest of his time in office.
The Iraqi insurgency would pick up in the months and years following the speech costing the lives of thousands of Americans.
In fact, the last U.S. combat troops would not leave Iraq until 2010 under Bush’s successor, President Barack Obama.

!!**I can imagine how you CONS would twist it if President Obama had declared it after ending the war in Iraq.**!! You people are idiots.

How fun was last night? I thoroughly enjoyed hanging out with you and treebeard. Haven't laughed that hard in awhile. treebeard's "random caps" post was inspired...heh.
Hello Crow, yes, that was funny last night watching them scurry away like little mice or crickets. Treebeard was killing it. haha

That greeting reminds me of a picture I seen that said "If you ever had a RC Cola and a Moon Pie" you might be a Southerner. haha I have, how about you? lol

On the pipeline.

United, Kentuckians are standing against the Bluegrass Pipeline

NGLs pipeline leak in Parachute, Colo., in which 241 barrels of natural gas liquids entered the soil undetected for two weeks. Investigators called the problem with the line a "seep." Such a leak or seep in Kentucky could pollute underground water supplies, given the karst topography that honeycombs limestone formations under much of the region.

Dang, I forgot about the peanuts. I love my southern roots. So glad Dad settled back in his birth state after traveling all over the world with the Army. I will always call KENTUCKY my home.

I might just make it down there and go see my sister. I did post it on my FB for my friends to send around and get some people's eyes open and have their voice heard instead of letting it happen and crying later which some do. I have always been an activist, but not to the extremes of chaining myself to a tree/bulldozer etc. I will write, email, and visit The Hill about anything I feel passionate about and have done so. Did you see the article I posted on the nuns protesting it?

You can help by signing the petition (all of them), emailing those Congressmen that want our votes again and again, make people aware in those counties on the map. Although all of Kentucky should be concerned. We sit on caves and caves and the MADRID FAULT. Do we really want to take that chance for a few jobs until the thing is done? People need to look at the damage that has been done already to communities and farms of states that do have a pipeline running through it. Find another way!

Post it post it post and tell your fellow Kentuckians to do their own research and seek the FACTS.

Law, child...how could you forget about the peanuts? This thread's FULL of 'em! ;)

If you go, give 'em hell for me too, ok? I signed the petition and sent a message offering any help I could give. There's several of my friends that will be interested in this too.

Yes, I read your post about the nuns, and it was great! "Eminent domain" my foot. It's just mindless, obscene greed, and utter disregard for the impact on the environment. I want to go back later to that one site and read some more about the effects on livestock. Around here, you mess with a good ol' boy's Angus herd and it's on like Donkey Kong...lol.
