Does she think she is better or does she tell the truth??? What has Eddie Long done to get a raise??? I agree with Rose, if anyone gets a raise it should be the city workers, the ones that do work, not sit on their ass and try to look important. Eddie Long is a joke!

When's is the last time anyone received a 100% raise. Why would the city residents let this happen. The positions are part time, Eddie isn't that, he shows up twice a week. I reside in the county and this is really wrong with the raises they want. So many city workers that could use the raise. The residents of the city of harrodsburg should not let this happen.

Like I said earlier, give the raise to the ones that do the work, not the ones that sit on their asses and try to look important. And yes Eddie Long is a joke. You should know his true colors. I do. Nough said.

Rose Bishop says this in the Danville paper:

"As you know, I am an elected Harrodsburg City Commissioner, having taken office effective Jan. 1, 2013. As such, I have grave concerns with the recent introduction of a proposed ordinance by the mayor and three city commissioners to double their salaries from the present $8,000 for commissioners to $16,000 per year, and the mayor from $12,000 to $24,000 per year. This increase is for part-time positions only.
The new salaries, if approved, would amount to an increase of $46,000 to the city’s budget for these elected, part-time officials. The city employees have not had a raise for at least five years until the 2014 budget, which did allow for 2.5 percent city-wide cost of living increase. It is my belief that if we have funds to double the salaries of the mayor and commissioners, this money would be far better spent for salary increases on behalf of the city employees who serve our residents full time.
Through exhaustive research on my own, I have discovered that some of the city’s employees are being paid salaries at or below poverty level set by the federal government. This information can be found at the Department of Health and Human Services website at www.direct.ed.gov/repaycalc/poverty.html . I am asking for the support of the residents of Harrodsburg to voice their opinions at the next commission meeting 7 p.m. Monday, April 14 at city hall.
Rose Bishop
Harrodsburg city commissioner"

Someone makes a reply to this letter with a very good point:

"I also hope many will attend the next meeting so they may learn a few facts that Ms Bishop conveniently left out. She doesn't care to mention the fact that the previous Mayor and Commissioners drastically reduced the salary and done away with insurance benefits that they had enjoyed for years after they decided not to seek another term. The current Mayor is simply reinstating, restoring the salary to what it was before any of the present commissioners took office minus the insurance. They deserve it just as much as any previous city official. However, when a commissioner rarely comes to meetings and only attends functions where food is served or maybe a ribbon-cutting where they can get their picture taken, I agree that they are overplayed. You should also know a new Commissioner will take Ms Bishop's seat next term. I doubt very seriously that she would be fighting this if she was going to be serving. In all her years in city government I wonder how many pay increases she turned down."

Perhaps they mean "county government. "

They are only part time positions. They should not have insurance carried on them. They should have regular jobs like everyone else. I know that Eddie Long has not had a job since his dad's car lot. If the positions were jobs that attended everyday and 8 hours a day. That would be different for paying for them insurance. But this is just like paying for insurance for the school board. This is silly to even suggest doubling the pay for part time work they wanted to do themselves. Not even a real job.

Also when Rose worked at the courthouse she worked a full time position job. Not a part time position. There is a difference. Why would she turn down a pay raise for full time position. That was her regular job. SMH

I would of course point out that Eddie Long recently retired after working for decades with the United States Postal Service.

I have never known Eddie Long to hold a public job doing anything. But drink. Did he drive a mail car, truck, or work inside the post office itself? Like I said, I have never know of Eddie Long hold a full time job. How long ago did he retire? I know his wife worked like a dog all of their married life until I guess she retired.
You said decades. That means 20 years. Maybe he started when he had to help raise his grandchildren. I just didn't ever know he ever worked. Not being smart. Just being serious.
