For Our Kids

Danville, KY

All Everybody In Harrodsburg talks about is DRUGS and the kids. Nobody wonts their kids on drugs,so why doesn't Harrodsburg get something for the KIDS to do. When the kids are out and about, lookin for things to do and drugs are the only thing people talk about or do,what do u expect. Peers make it hard on others and everybody wonts to be liked and be apart of a group. So I myself think if our kids had things to do,places to go,that would take care of a lot of the problems. It sure would take a lot of concerns off of our parent minds and worries. DOESNT EVERYONE AGREE?????? Take some effort and time for our kids for a change and watch the drug flow, but put our kids first for a change and try to help them have something fun and different to do with their time. Time on hands isn't something good, that leads to problems. PLS this is for our growing town of youngters!!!!!!!!!!

You couldn't have said it better op! Teens def need something to do in a small town. Harrodsburg has changed so much in little time and its mostly because of drugs and what the make ppl become. If you have ever been peer pressured to do something u knew wasn't good, then you know what teens are facing. If its not sex, its drugs, if its not drugs its doing something else to fit in. I do have to say though it is the parents responsibility to watch their kids, and by that I mean be apart of their lives even if they push you away. Teach them morals and help them fully understand the consequences of their decisions.

I agree with you 100%! I notice that as I write this, it's 3:12 pm. Still plenty of time to rush on down to the bank and talk to a loan officer! Let us know what they say.

As a parent, it is your responsibility to insure your kids don't have too much idle time. Take them swimming, go out to a movie, visit a museum, paint, make arts and crafts, read, play music and dance, teach them to cook, clean and help out around the house, etc. We have Fort Harrod, Shakertown, Herrington Lake, Anderson Dean Park, etc. It is up to you to provide and know what they are up to at all times while growning up. It is no different here than anywhere else. Take your own responsibility.

It could be that we provide too much entertainment and supervision. Kids are into little league basketball, football, soccer, and baseball. All of these programs are run by adults. Kids are supervised at school by teachers and at home by parents. Could it be that they are so supervised that they are unable to develop the ability to learn how to entertain themselves?

Oh I see. I thought the person who had a laundry list of things Harrodsburg needed actually intended to do something about it. I didn't realize it was just another local yokel flapping their gums. My bad.

Since you have all the answers Digger, why don't you step up instead of just flapping your gums?

We have lots for teens in Harrodsburg. A pool, several truck pulls and demo derbies throughout the year, several parks (walking trails, basketball courts, skate park, and more), fitness centers, fair once a year, drive in, game store with events, marshal arts down town, excellent library with movie events and internet and books and more, church youth programs at hburg baptist and south side, and tons more. It isn't having something to do its the choices parents and the teens are making.

YOU people are so stupid your eat up with it.All you old folks need to get in with the new things and new age trend. Drawing, what the hell,if a kid wonts to draw they will do it on their own, that's a gift u get, not because that's all there is to do. Computers is what causes all this stupidity in HARRODSBURG . Why because that's all there is to do. And on and on. Cant even talk about things for our kids without dumdass people getting on here. Grow up HARRODSBURG PEOPLE
