If this were called to the attention of our "clueless" leader he would surely jump in on this guy's side and cry shame on the verdict.

Like state sponsored premeditated murder is a deterrent. In fact we know its not.

Actually it is a deterrent. Once the death penalty is carried out on this fine individual there is 100% certainty that he will be deterred from killing anyone else whether inside or outside of the jail's walls. Sounds pretty effective to me. Goodbye to another Skell.
