Try them as adults and kiss they're arses goodbye for a very long time, if they're lucky. Hopefully the dad of the victim will pronounce his own sentence.

I suspect you are talking about the attackers. Unfortunatly, they took a young womans life, security and mental stability away in one night too. These "kids" will get out sooner than they should because we have the prisons and jails stuffed with non-violent offenders who were selling drugs or involved in some other ridiculously passive crime and they will turn out smarter criminaly speaking. They need to get life for this assault on society in large.

If attackers knew their victims had guns I think they would be less inclined to commit these crimes.

There is a serious problem when children this age are commiting such serious crimes. Our system is designed to offer services to young people in hopes to turn their lives around and I support that idea in most cases. However, in situations such as this a strong sentence would likely make a lareger impact. The true question here is where were their parents and how did they learn to behave like this??

Not all of us think violence needs to be solved by violence. Even Jesus rebuked "eye for an eye" in the New Testament by saying turn the other cheek. Regardless, such a violent crime like this does need to be followed through with incredibly strong punishment. Sad thing is, someone selling drugs on the street to people who consensually want them would usually gets more time on prison than these brutal rapists.

These are not children. If they are found guilty by DNA evidence, then I hope that they are sentenced and incarcerated as adults. There can be no mitigating circumstances for this crime. It was aptly described above a pure evil. This was not a mistake: it was evil.

Most cruel punishment for these teens: take away their video games, ipods, and cell phones for a year.

I would suggest a combination of therapies - orchiectomy, lobectomy, and prostatectomy. As follow up, they can live as cellmates for 50 or so years.

I could not agree more with your statement. I apologize if my post was misunderstood. By law they are not adults, which is why I referred to them as children. I would support them being tried as adults as well. As I stated in my other post, a strong sentence would serve this situation better.

Your statement implies rational thinking on the part of the attackers-while their actions demonstrate a total lack thereof. More guns would solve nothing here.

Bulldooky, if they thought the victim had a gun they shoot first and steal the gun. If you carry a weapon it will tend only to escalate the situation, just ask that fool down in Florida. I can't wait for the UN to tell us to get rid of the guns, we're the most violent crime ridden nation in the world, dispite all the so called Christians living here.

Soooo, I would say, have the gun, but don't let them know you have it....BTW, the UN's record on things like this is lousy, and they can't tell us to get rid of the guns...What will they do?, withhold troops in blue beanies from our country?

So sad for the victim. My heart goes out to her. But it looks like the two thugs will be spending a lot of time in prison if tried as adults which I hope they will be. I will be following this story until the end. I hope they get a "hanging judge" when they go to trial. Then maybe the victim might have a tiny bit of closure on the terror she went through. If you are reading this sweetie, I am so sorry this happen to you and may God bless you is my prayer.

Too bad the victim wasn't armed and ready to defend herself. It is unfortunate but the perps will serve 6 mos, maybe a year and have clean records when they come out after they turn 18. Then the police will be scrambling for the next decade or two to find some sexual predators only to realize it was these juvies.

Dont ever believe the lie that defending yourself is considered violence.

If you commit the crime of an adult then you should serve the time of an adult.
