The NBC29 newsroom received the following press release from the Harrisonburg Police Department: Press Release: The C.H.A.R.G.E. Gang Task Force continues investigating an incident, where juveniles were trying to recruit for the crips street gang.

12??? I was playing baseball with all the kids on my block when i was that age! This is such BS the way our kids are turning out cause the law wont let us discipline our kids the way we were. There is nothing wrong with a good spanking I use to have to pick a switch off the peach tree. and let me say it kept me in line! It made me think before i acted but now kids just act without thinking of consequence! We need to take over as parents because a verbal warning is not cutting it!!!!!!!!

More and more parents are working outside the home and don't know, often because they don't take the time to ask, what their teens are doing in the afternoon.

I was lots more frightened of what my dad would say than what the principal would say!!!

Where the heck are the parents, You don't punish a 12 year old for this stuff, you go into home and find out whats going on. There's probably no father in the picture, he's in jail for not paying child support, but where's the mother? I was at home building models and short wave radios at that age.

just saying There is nothing wrong with a good spanking I agree but you would be thrown in jail and charged with child battery are something like that.
The article reads “Due to their concern and involvement we were able to quickly resolve this isolated incident” but then says The Gang Task Force continues to follow-up on this incident to determine if anyone else was involved.
Don’t sound too sure do them?
Probably a bigger problem than the police are willing to admit (isn’t that a surprise)

Gangs are everywhere I dont care where you live! They will always be here but we as parents are the ones that can make a change we have more of a edge than police it starts in the home period I know its hard for lots of single family that the parent cant always be home but we as single families need to find other things for our kids to do while we are not in the home boys and girls clubs jobs if they are old enough sports we can make it work for our families if we do for our kids you get out what you put in.

We did the same thing, only we picked it off an apple tree.. turned out just fine, work every day, no criminal records, family together.. Bring back good old fashion spanking and alot would change.

I agree with all that a good spanking never hurt any of us. I also had my share. And we all learned to respect our elders because they loved us enough to discipline us. What kids must think now of parents who let them get away with everything? The laws need to change where a parent can reasonably discipline their children and teach them wrong from right. I must say the "good old days" are long gone but spankings did make us learn our lessons and more kids need them nowadays then ever.
