Harrison is a great place to live. There is not alot of "action". Its so beautiful here. We have the lakes for boating and swimming and the Buffalo for swimming and canoing and its just beautiful to go there and relax.
For the most part people here are very friendly. It is a small growing town. In fact the last 5-7 years or so it has grown.
We have the Wal-Mart supercenter which helped our town to grow some.
Hope that helps.

I am not a native of Harrison, and live in Marshall, a small town outside of harrison. I have not met one hateful person yet and have been here nearly a year. My grandson is doing much better in school here than he was in Texas, as the school is smaller here and there is more one on one time for the kids. The teacher and I are good at working together for the good of the child. The Harrison area is a wonderful place to live and raise a family.

Yep, I'd think SERIOUSLY about it. And the surrounding towns too.
The problem being, that it might look good while you're looking into it, you don't find out the real stuff until you move in.

Harrison, like any other town has good and bad. Good: We moved to Harrison and we were warmly greeted and welcomed into the town. We lived there 15 years, raised our kids there and loved it. The schools and teachers were all wonderful and I feel like my children got a good education. The people of Harrison will go out of there way to help you, even if they don't know you.(read recent article in Harrison Daily Times about FedEx using their corporate plane to fly a little girl back home from Texas to die with her family. Violent crimes are almost non-existent! The mountains, lakes and rivers make this a beautiful area and very relaxing. Life is on a slower pace there than the rest of the world.
Bad: It is a small town and everyone knows everything. There is nothing for teenagers to do, unless they play sports, which causes them to find things and usually they are not good things. Drugs and theft are high - that's the majority of the crimes there. No major stores for shopping (except Wal-Mart) and only a handful of restaurants (but they are all good!)
You just have to weigh the good and the bad and decide what YOUR family is looking for in a place to call home.

By violent, I was referring to murders and drive by shootings like some places have. I should have been clearer - sorry

We moved here 5 years ago and thought it was just this side of heaven. I was wrong. You will always be considered an OUTsider! I was told that by someone when I first moved here, she was right. Even though we obey the laws, treat everyone with respect and treat the land respectful, it doesn't matter. I would consider moving someplace else.

GO TO FAYETTEVILLE, you'd regret moving here since you'd be labeled and "outsider" and not treated very well. Also if you have kids, this place is a definite NO, since there is nothing for them to do outside of school. One more thing that I'd like to add...alot of the women here are HORRIBLE!!!! I've never seen so many nasty, lying, two-faced, gossip spreading, false witness bearing, slandering women in my entire life, as there are here. They're real good at being fake to your face, but don't be fooled, they'd rather gossip and make up lies about you than eat when they're hungry...NO FRIGGEN JOKE! So take my advice...you and your family would be better off going to Fayetteville. Harrison IS a very beautiful area, it's too bad that I can't say the same thing about the people.
