Funny how it is unfair in this case, but you don't complaint about the unfair advantage you have against retail bars with being able to allow smoking.

You don't like bad publicity being aired about your restaurant yet you have no problem throwing others under the bus. That says ALOT about your character. That is why we stopped going there years ago.

These organizations contribute alot, not only for Veterans but for the community as a whole, often times unnoticed and unrecognized. Update this outdated law.

The limit of $5000.00 is way out of touch. Heck just last week the clubs in mercersburg were shut down for a week because of the same thing. Next step is 30 days. I bet if Spendell was getting a cut from the jars it would make it all better.

Sit at the VFW and count games this weekend, you will be sick. The board orders Hershey to do what he does, arrest them next time.

The law is like an authorized order. Carry out the order, or be subject to the UCMJ. It makes no difference if the order is not fair. Follow the laws & regulations, or be subject to the proscribed punishment. It matters not if the law needs updated, changed, or eliminated, the law is the law!! Would you rather anarchy? And isn't that partly why we have served-to prevent anarchy?

Geeze lets screw the VETS, the people that fought and gave there very lives for the freedoms of this country. Then pass Casinos licences out like their candy, to Goverment Coherts who fill the very pockets of the people that passed THESE NEW GAMBLING bills, saying gambling is great long as you are lining the pockets of GOVERMENT OFFICIALS.
PA, you should be so proud of yourself, looking like fools, soon you will be asking all the VET"S to be putting in slot machines. Just like the ones you made every bar and club remove prior to this passage of bills.

You hit the nail right on the head...Our state officials are just as corrupt as our federal officials...We have a governor who is more interested in passing slot bills and table game bills..But then I guess his Philly projects of years ago wouldn't get paid without these gaming bills..But for local VFW ,American Legion clubs and other clubs who depend on other ways to pay their bills and and as well pay to local charities is a CRIME...However it's alright the casinos in this sate reaps the profits of those who attend such establishments..And that my dear is NO CRIME????..Give me a break!!!!!I guess the state likes to kick clubs to the ground...Three Cheers for Rendell!!!!...RIGHT..........

I'm torn on this issue. As far as the alleged violations go, the VFW is obviously guilty as sin. But these rules/regulations just don't seem right. The club uses the money it makes from small games of chance to fund itself. The manager isn't pocketing it and taking a vacation to the Bahamas. These clubs to so much for our community. Then sponsor/fund youth sports, they put up money for police dogs, etc.

The small games of chance featured at the clubs are a rip off beyond belief, but people still love to play them. I feel like if people want to blow their hard earned money on fish bowl tickets, then that's their prerogative.

I think this law needs to be uodated.
If we can make new laws regarding texting and cell phone use while driving, then this antiquatedlaw needs to be changed, too. It's only fair. Don't pick on the men and women who gave us the freedoms we currently enjoy. No harm is being done. What's the big deal?

Two points can be seen here. First, attorneys are two faced. Redding can run for office to uphold the law but now is getting paid to fight for one side. Second, the law is the law... these club managers need fired and prosecuted... They should campaign to have the law changed to support their efforts, but can not take the law into their own hands... Jesh, didn't any of these folks ever watch People's Court and listen to Doug Llewelyn, "Don't take the law into your own hands, you take them to court." P.S. I'm still waiting for my rebate for my dues to the Legion for allowing the club to shut down in which I could not visit... On the bright side, thanks for the very cheap buffett of crab legs, ribs, wings, shrimp, etc. when you had to clean out the cooler. The Legion and VFW are great clubs, just run them with responsible non gready people.

Please remember that the majority of the members in most of these clubs are not VETS, but social members.
