7 to 14 years for dad who didn't help scalded girl

A man who let his scalded and handicapped daughter go without medical help for eight days until she died was sentenced to seven to 14 years in prison Thursday.

Why is it that people do not use common sense when dealing with children? Why would someone give a child a bath in scalded water? What are they afraid of in seeking medical attention? If this is classified as murder then the perpetrators should be punished accordingly.

This case is so transparent. The handicapped girl was a burden and the two adults did not want to take care of her. They wanted her out of their lives.
