Big crooked government, Wall Street jews and damn yankees should never even visit the Carolina's. Moving here is out of the question. We will try and make you uncomfortable as possible.

I would stay where you are. The roads are horrid in NC. Not spacious like up north. No margin for error. Either your on the road or off the road. And the southerners just cant drive. Thats why they close down the whole town if there is one inch of snow. Every one acts like their our for a sunday drive, everyday. And the accent will eat at you. At first you will be delighted and before you know it, your hair will stand up on the back of your neck everytime you hear one of the hicks speak. Save yourself and your money and just occasionally visit the south. And I dont really need to go into the food. OMG.
Yankees accent resembles fingernails being raked down a chalkboard by a sadistic school teacher. I cringe when you people talk.

It's ubelievable how ignorant some people are. I've lived all over the world, spending 20 years in the U.S. Air Force. There have beeen good and bad people at every stop. There IS a reason for the statement "Southern Hospitality", but that doesn't mean EVERYBODY in the south in polite. It also doesn't mean everybody in the north is rude. Take each person on a case-by-case basis. Somebody from the north is very capable of adding good to a southern community, and there are some "southerners" that give the south a bad name as well.

I want to apologize for the a$$holes on here. They make me embarrassed to be from the same state. I guess every place has a few, but for some reason ours all know how to post on this blog. Its a beautiful state, friendly people everywhere. Every place has a few bad apples. No suggestions, just feel the need to let you know not all of us act that way or feel that way.

I have thought long and hard about the best small town in NC. When I think of long and hard I think of my Earl but never mind that is for me to know and you to find out. When Earl was in the army the captain needed a foot long ruler but couldn't find one so they sent for Earl. Earl and I have been married a long time and we both have been faithful. Now before we got married I don't know or I won't say. You know how young folks like to get all hot and worked up so we were no different from the rest, all y'all included. now fess up.

I imagine Earl has had a few other girls before I came along. He sure knew how to do things. He has never said and I won't ask. If we had a confessing he might ask about my old boyfriends and I don't want to tell. I almost married another boy when I was 16 which would have been a big mistake. My daddy liked him and probably would have signed papers for me to marry him but we broke it off. When I say broke it off I mean we quit being boyfriend and girlfriend, not that anything got actually broke off although we was relatively rough with each other being inexperienced on each other's body geography if you know what I mean. Anyway he went to work climbing poles and putting up electric wire for Duke Power and married a big fat girl from Gastonia. They had a bunch of youngins so I recon he figured out how things were supposed to work or else they look like the milkman if you know what I mean.

Earl likes to drink a cold Miller Lite once or twice a week. He don't drink enough to buy a case or even a six pack so he goes to different places like that joint across from Apple Jack where Loblollies used to be or Shooter's Beer Joint. He will drink one and then smoke a nasty old cigar in his pickup on the way home. I don't let him drink beer or smoke cigars in the house. He has to gargle and wash his face before I will give him any sugar or anything else for that matter. Have you ever kissed a man who has drunk a cold Miller Lite and smoked a nasty old cigar. It is awful. It is like kissing the butthole of a mule although I have never done that but you get the picture.

I have lived in many places in NC, including the ghettos of Charlotte. We didn't have a pot to piss in back then and Earl got a job cleaning the floors in grocery stores. The only place we could afford to stay was in a falling down apartment in the roughest section of Boulevard Homes. There were dope dealers and whores all around us. We felt like Oreo cookies because everybody was black except us. We stayed there 3 months and locked up and didn't go outside after 6. We heard gunshots every night and the police were nearly always driving through. I was glad when we moved.

Since then we have lived in several small towns and we liked them all. Now we live in Marshville. It is a very affordable place to live. You can get a real nice home for less than most places. The people are friendly and you can do stuff like learn to ride horses. There are some fun things to do here and closeby in Monroe. Charlotte is about 30 miles away. We go there on weekends sometimes to eat at fancy overpriced restaurants.

I know how you feel about your beautiful state....I'm from Tx and miss southern hospitality and sweet people....we are presently living in Vermont because of my husbands job...we are miserable in this liberal state of darkness. We bought some land near W Jefferson nc and were going to build but decided to buy one already built. please welcome us because we love everything about you all. Your love for The Lord impresses us the most.....what a sweet place to live in your beautiful mountain high country...my husband is an engineer and we are church going Christians who live the quiet life..... Anyone have a Christian company looking for a good old boy who worked for the gov who has a clearance for mechanical engineering with 16 yrs experience?

This blog cracked me up! My sweet family of four moved up to Asheville about three years ago from Fort Lauderdale. We LOVE it. I remember one day we were traveling on the ONE and only road that goes through Hot Springs, NC. I got a bit upset with my hubby who was driving under the speed limit, thinking that he was going to fast or something was wrong, because every house we passed people were waving at us, or standing and waving. My husband started laughing at me. "Honey, they are only waving hello to us"! What?!?! I mean, Florida, the gutter of America, was so different. The girls dressed like little whores, we actually saw more kids under the age of eighteen dressing like strippers. The guys wear there pants so far down that you could see their underpants, YUCK! Try walking behind something like that with your four year old! Then there were the fakers... So many fakers... Driving, dressing and speaking so everyone will notice them. I lived there for 35 years, I saw my quaint, orange grove filled, cow pasture dotted state turned into a garbage riddled, pollution filled swamp. They've even built on the Everglades. Shopping centers, bars and gas stations, that's what South FL is now. So when you hear of people wanting to move away, it's probably because they are disgusted by where they are. These are the people you want, NC. They are like you and love those old fashioned values, like taking care of each other and your land. Unfortunately, we have noticed, since last Summer, the litter, the traffic, the rude drivers and the status symbol people are coming up. You see more stupid BMWs and Mercedes this past year than the previous two.:( I hope NC doesn't lose it like FL. Greed corrupts, and it seems like there are some greedy developers moving in quickly. They will sheer the side of a mountain quicker than you can snap a photo. I'm sad to say that NC may soon fall prey to these quick buck scumbags.

I recommend that you look at Oakboro, NC. Great small town atmosphere, friendly people, close to Charlotte (30-45min), great churches, low crime and low taxes. I moved here a few years ago after passing thru and falling in love with the area.
