My brothers and I lived at Thompson Orphanage from 1966-1967.Is it still there?

My sister and I also lived there, and they moved to a new campus while we were there, around 1969-70 I believe. It is now called Thompson Children's Home. The old campus where is now the site of a chapel. Hope this helps.

I lived there from 1970 until 1972. I lived in Christ Church Cottage. My houseparents were Bill and Mary Wade.

I lived at the Charlotte campus from '66 through '69 with 2 of my sisters. We were then moved to the Goldsboro group home.

My two sisters and I went to Thompson November 2, 1945. At first, like all children, I wanted to go home. I resented being there and when my mother found out I was unhappy, she wrote me and said she guessed I would always be unhappy like her. Something clicked in my head and I said to my self "No I won't and if I straihgten up I would have a chance to make something out of my life." After that I started thinking of all the good things before me. I stopped being resentful. I came to love Thompson and all the people in it. I thank God for watching over me and putting me in a place that gave me a chance in life, that I would other wise not have had. Yes ORPHANAGES ARE A BLESSING. I am so happy my sisters and I were not separated and put in foster homes that could not have possibly done for us what Thompson did
to make us the women we became.

My name is Barry Treadwell. I am trying to location a boy I was in Korea with in 1971-72.
His name was James Dixon and at one time he live there at Thompson. He was a really funny
Guy and was always telling stories about the place. I know he was adopted by the sheriff of
Charlotte NC. By chance did you know him and would you have any idea how I could find him.
