Does anyone remember the murder of a woman that was found dead by hunters near farmhill cemetery in a gravel pit? I can't remember who she was or who if anyone was ever charged for her murder? It was in the mid to late 70's?
I remember that murder. I cannot recall her name either, but she did work for the cleaners in H'burg, I believe she was a widow and had a daughter. She was a good, kind woman, never hurt anyone, worked hard putting her daughter through school/college. She was taken from the laundromat where she was washing her clothes. He took her in her truck and after he murdered her he brought her truck back and parked it in front of the old Blaxton's grocery store ( I think). He brutally murdered her, craved crosses on her head. They caught the guy, he was from up north, but was in H'burg visiting relatives. He was kin to the man that owned the barber shop down from the old bank of h'burg. They say his cousin who worked for his dad in that barber shop was seen picking him up when he left the truck at blaxton's. I don't know if the man ever served any time. I heard he came back to h'burg once to visit, at least that was the rumor going around town and everyone was scared, especially the women.

Yes, lets do remember her Mrs. LUCILLE JAMES.
I thought i remembered someone telling me that someone from that barber shop was suspected of involvement, but i never heard anything more about that - could have been rumor. It is said that one Frank Gibson was convicted for the crime. Was the man that owned that barber shop-last name bratcher or something close to that? Do you remember?

You are right, we do need to remember the victim. I cannot remember the name of the murderer. The man that owned the barber shop was Murray and Murray's son worked for him and the murderer was kin to them.

At the time this happened Junior Murray, was married to this mans sister. I think her name was Beth. She later married James Flanigan but they divorced and I don't know where she is anymore. But the parents of this Gipson was good people as everyone knows we can't help what our kids do.

Yes, we all know we cannot help what our children do. My heart hurts for his (Gibsons)parents-for they had to indure pain inflicted upon them in which they had nothing to do with. When i was a kid I remember going to a barber shop with my Dad-the man that ran the shop - name was Bratcher that is the shop i thought "i remember" was speaking of. But it must have been a different place alltogether if it was owened by Jess Murray. Thats a name i did not remember untill hearing it hear.

Well I can tell you for sure the young man he and his brother in law killed was a very good young man his parents are good friends of mine for years. He was paroled early because of overcrowding of the system. That;s Arkansas for you. He got 40 years and served only about 4 years of it.

One and only-Yes that is the one I was referring to. Do you know if they ever solved that murder? I sure hope so –I moved away from Harrisburg not long after that happened, and never knew the outcome. That case just always stuck out in my mind, so tragic.
And for –SITTING-sorry if I offended you, but every question seems to open someone’s “can of worms” I simply research Harrisburg history; all kinds good and bad it’s all a part of the history of Harrisburg.
Yes the murder was solved and the subject got life in prison
