Has anyone out there ever had the chance to talk with our Poinsett Co. Prosecutor,Mr Marty Lilly? If so, I hope that your evperience was alot better than mine. I donot know how old this man is, but he seems not to be very old.I found him to be one of the rudest most unprofessnional people that I have ever spoken to. I had to make a call to him a couple of weeks ago to simple ask him a few questions and I am an senior citzen and he came right out and told me in no uncertain words to shutup and let him speak when he didn't even know what I needed. His first words were Ms or Mr. SO AND SO. Just what can I help you with and when I try to explain he ask agin "WHAT CAN I HELP YOU WITH" without giving me the time to tell him. When I told him I had a problem that I need some answer to and didn't know what to do, because I had never been in this situration before, he came back very harsly with'IF YOU WILL BE QUITE AND LET ME TALK" When I said ONE word he said "OKAY YOU GO AHEAD A TALK AND I WILL LISTEN" very mean. When I ask for an appointment to come by and talk to him, he said he didn't make appointments. I NEED SOME ANSWERS HERE. If we have a public defender or a prosecuting attorney do we the taxpayer not pay for these people. Do we not have the right to be able to speak to them without being talked to like we are nothing or not on his level. Are they better than we are? I pay taxes every year and I am amazed when I cannot talk to someone that my tax money pays for. AM I WRONG. "PLEASE.PLEASE someone out there has an answer for me.I did talk to about a dozen more people that has probablly never had the need to use this man they are good outstanding people of our community and none had anything good to say about Mr. Lilly, but that he was a very rude and hateful man. If I am wrong, then I will admit that I am, but I think that I am not the only one out there that this has happened to, so can someone please let me know something.I know that God tells me that I must forgive this man and pray for him which I will do and it will be hard for me to forgive someone who can talk to an elderly person the way he did to me that day. Thanks and Please let me hear from you.

Why do you need to talk to a prosecutor? He is not a private attorney when he is acting as prosecutor and does not do consultations.

It doesn't matter why they wanted to talk to him, the point is people in offices like that should have more respect for the elderly. If he could not help them with their problem he should have simply explained (in a nice way) that he could not help them and point them to the person that could. You know elderly people don't understand a lot of how the world works these days! The younger generation needs to think about that...one day they will be elderly too...would they like to be treated that way by someone?

Well, you have no idea how busy and understaffed the prosecutor's office is. They simply don't have time for stupid questions.

That still does not give them the right to be a doofus to people. But they should have tried to make them understand that they couldn't help them without being mean no matter if they are young or old. But this person could be posting this for all the wrong reasons also you never know. We all do stupid things at one time or the other right or wrong. Mr.Lily, could also been well within his rights with his answers as we don't know what the problem was.

If you have a legal question, contact Human Services and they will direct you to legal services if you cannot afford to hire a lawyer. If you want to hire a lawyer, there is a good firm in Harrisburg,(Tiner, Cobb, and Kemper) that will listen to you and if you need legal help, will tell you up front what they charge.

As far as Mr. Lilly, if he indeed was this rude with you, he should be reprimanded, no matter how busy his office is.

Okay I appericate the info that you gave me, but I donot understand why some of you had to come back with some mean comments. I donot think I was mean in what I wrote and I did say at id I was wrong then I would admit it. I will admit it if I am. The ones that posted a kind word for me I thank you. And the reason I needed to speak with this man is really a personal problem and no one needs to know about it, I jst thought that a public servant would be able to answer some questions for me and that is the reasons that I called to speak to him. Was I out of place to want maybe 3 minutes of his time? yes I am an elderly person and I donot understand alot of what the younger generation does, but I was always taught to respect my elders.I know that this man is busy but this was late one afternoon after he was out of court and I only needed a few minutes of his time. If I was wrong in doing so, then I was wrong.Tell me how can the elderly afford a lawyer that will charge you 2000.00 and you cannot afford it and then the judge tells you that your little SSI check is enough for you to afford a lawyer. Do we do without our medicine and our food? When we know we have done nothing wrong, but have to go to court anyways and stand and defend ourselves. That is all I need to know. Thanks to those that were kind to me. God Bless

Did your parents ever teach you to be nice to others. I have always taught my children if they could do nothing else in this world , be kind and try to help other, for the bible does say "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you".Show your love for others, for love is the greatest among these. So young man , please show respect for your elders, and you will grow to be someone that will be a very respected. And thanks for the other response.

Martin Lily is the rudest man I have ever talked to. He did not want to hear my problem either and refered me to the sheriffs department when they were the ones that sent him to me. He told me that he did not want to waste his time and this was on a very important matter. He did return my call once he talked to the sheriffs department and they told him it was his place to do what I needed done but he was still rude and never helped me. It was reported. I did not got results then but maybe once he is out of there, I can get help if it is not to late. The lady in the office could not help me either as she did not know where the form I needed was. All I have to say to that man is karma is a bitch.

Don't lecture me on how to act. My parents raised me to be self sufficient and aware of how truely shitty people are. Life is harsh and the world is shit. You want something done, then do it yourself, old man.

1 Corinthaians 13:13 SAYS, " but now abideth faith, hope ,love these three and the greatest of these is love. And the other is also called the Golden Rule and one of the best known sayings of our Lord JESUS. It is found in Luke 6;31.And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them like wise.

If this is Josh, then I compliment you. You have reached a new low in ignorance and arrogance. If it isn't Josh, then Harrisburg has two of the rudest and lowest forms of human life on the planet.

irst o all I am not a OLD MAN. I am a CHRISTAIN LADY who loves my Lord with ever fiber of my being and plan on being with Him soon and WHAT A WONDERFUL PLACE THAT WILL BE.If my children every dis repected any elder or anyone the way you have on here I would be a heartbroken mother.I am not lecturing you, can you tell me one thing, have you found out that is is best to be kind to people or to hate people. I have found it is better to treat people with kindess and that I will do. This world is how you make it. You can make your life harsh or you can make your life a happy life it is all up to you and not your family. You have your own mind that tells you how you will go through this life and how you treat people will determine how you are treated. It seems as if you must live a miseable life for you are the only one that comes back with a post like this. I am sorry that life has treated you so unkind and I will tell you whoever you are that I forgive you for you cruel comments to me and pray for youeven if you donot want me to, that is something you can't stop and I know that my Lord hears my prayers. I jst ask that you be kind to others and see if your world is not a better world. AND I CAN SAY WITHOUT A DOUBT I LOVE YOU AND FORGIVE YOU FOR YOUR UGLY WORDS TO ME. God Bless.

Thank you so much for your post. I knew that there had to be someone out there that had the same experience I had. And I cannot understand why THAT GUY came back with a post like they did. I did nothing to them and as I sat her typing this I want to thank you for understanding this lady who has tried to gett somew information from Mr. LILLY and could not get any at all. I thought that he was there to help us the people of Harrisburg, but I guess I was wrong. So again thatns and God BLESS

Thank you for your post. This "guy" that made this post must be a miserable person and I do feel very sorry for him when he can come back with a post as he did. Yes I am an elderly person who is dying from cancer , but it seems as some of the younger generation does NOT care at all for us who made a way and fought for them to have a better way of life. They said that their parents taught them that this world was full of bad people,,(I will not use the words they wrote) Have they ever thought it is because of people like them that make it a bad world. What is wrong with being kind to people. Think about this1 Had you rather someone to be mean to you or kind. I will take kindness not someone who has that chip on their hooulder that the world owes me something. You get out of life what you put in it. Thank you honey for saying what you did. Show kindness and kindness will be shown back to you. God BLESS

It's not Josh, may be just as stupid and rude as him but he does spell a little better. Just what we need, one more arrogant ego inflated idiot on these boards.
