Why does'nt the Sheriff do anything about our drug problems in the county. I just found out that there has not been a DARE program for 4 years. Drug dealers seem to be every where now. You can go to Food city or Wal mart on weekends and see it first hand.
I thought Stockton could do the job 4 years ago but I think now he fooled us all.

The DARE program was discontinued by the school system because they dont have time to fit it in thier schedules anymore. What about all the recent drug indictments and federal arrests in the area that the sheriff's office has taken part in.....

DARE was not effective and data proves this. Drugs will always be a problem and most of the drug trade in Roane county is pills. This means we have a problem with doctors over prescribing meds or giving meds to people that don't really need them.

DARE is constantly reevaluating its efficiency and altering its strategies. Since the 1990s, independent studies of the D.A.R.E program have been conducted from selected school populations. These studies reported that D.A.R.E. did not actually decrease drug use among graduates. Some studies even indicated that there was an increased rate of drug use among D.A.R.E. graduates. Overall, evidence on the effects of the traditional DARE curriculum, which is implemented in grades 5 and 6, shows that children who participate are as likely to use drugs as those who do not participate. In 2001, the Surgeon General of the United States placed the D.A.R.E. program in the category of "Does Not Work"

Well I don,t think jack can do the job either unless there is some young girl tied to it.I do believe that alot of the drug funds they say they by drugs with and charges never stick is because they claim to buy thousands of dollars worth and instead they steal it.If you have money and get caught you give money to the drug fund and get off.I know a few that have for a fact.If all this money was used correctly it could have paid for there new jail.I think that at least 90 percent of police are dirty and in for the stupid woman who get off on a man in a uniform.I was once told if you are to lazy to be a cab driver then you should be a cop

Well apparently you are not very knowledgable in how things work so let me fill you in. The drug fund is a very tightly controlled fund that has restrictions on what it can be spent on. It is also audited atleast once a year. I am unaware of the sheriff's depts drug buys not sticking. Can you fill me in on what your talking about. As for your comment on cops being dirty yes there are some as with any profession. 90% is an ignorant statement......

This is misleading and there are far more stats that show the DARE program does help kids.
DARE is the most cost effective prevention program in the World. 87% of Tenn schools have DARE.
The DARE representative is from Roane County and has publicly criticize Stockton for not doing anything about keeping DARE in the schools. Furthermore, It is people like you who obviously ignorant of the program or have a motive to keep DARE out. Which is it?

The only joke here is you.
It is very apparent that you know nothing of the program. It is a program that gives kids a alternative to drug used and violence. We had DARE for years in Roane County. Our DARE officers were outstanding deputies. DARE training is 80 hours and qualifies that officer as a DARE instructor and a SRO for the schools. Before you make statements about a good program that helps kids you should become more knowledgeable about it. Your so-called researches are from extreme left-wing persons who want to legalize all drugs. Our Shriff department is for the DARE program not against it.

I agree. Remember to vote and get the current Sheriff out.
Maybe he could go to work for his wife at MacDonalds?

The Sherrif's Department has stepped up efforts on drugs in the county and it shows. If you are looking in the RCN you won't see it, as they seem to ignore any bad news or maybe just anything that might portray the Sherrif's Dept in a positive light.

If anyone has taken the time to go to any of the forums, you would note that a very plain and simple explanation regarding the discontinuance of the DARE program was explained very well. Our current sheriff has implemented into the school system other drug related programs that are considered more up to date due to pills being overly abused and so easy to obtain. Get real people--everything has to be updated at some point.
We just need to thank our current Sheriff and his
staff for a job well done.STOCKTON FOR SHERIFF!!!!!!!

Let's get out and vote. Stockton has done nothing except to take money from his employees, drug dealers and crooked business men. Stockton goes to my Church in Kingston and I will tell you I will never vote for him again. He has had a long history of abusing women and other bad behavior. Name anything that he has done except spend money, cover up for his deputies and himself and he tries make everyone thinks because he goes to Church that he has change? Don't believe it.

A Godly act is not to wag tongue against a person.
The Bible says if you have aught against your brethern you should take someone with you and go talk to him. If thought someone in my Church was so bad then I would ask him to make some changes and maybe even pray with him or for him.
God does answer prayers. Badmouthing him on the computer is not Godly. The good book says Judge not, lest you be judged. Unfounded accusations get you no where.

God Bless Mr. Stockton and the fine person he has
become.

The Sheriff has ignored the Drug problems. There has not been ANY consistant drug operations. Get Stockton out of office. He needs to go back to Crossville.

The bible also says to be aware of those who pretends to be of God. That is Stockton plain and simple. He can be seen at gatherings with judge Austin and others who have corrupted our county. I have know Stockton for years and he has not became any better. The same ole woman chaser.

He sure did find him a pretty woman because he chose a beautiful person for a wife-not only is she pretty on the face, but she is also a truly wonderful person and obviously he loves her very much because he's been married to her going on 20 years so there is obviously something you are missing. Hope you are as true to your spouse as he is to his. Besides he cannot help who shows up at public gathering--that does not mean he is with them. People need to clean their own door step before they judge others.

What about all the Roane County residents that have been arrested on Federal drug indictments Ralph Oneal, Brandon Cooper, Daniel Hampton, Darius Wright, Shawn Wright, Daniel Goins, 28 meth people, etc. Do any of these ring a bell. The sheriff's office has and is working on the drug problem very hard. The problem is the state system and our current criminal court jude.
