....be willing to learn how to interpret the bible. That is what "bible studies" and "sermons on Sunday morning" are all about. But I guess some Christians are so smart that they do not need a pastor to help then understand and interpret the bible correctly. I am not one of those Christians. I need all the help I can get!!! The bible can be very confusing. For example... that verse about "cutting off your arm if it causes you to sin". I had to ask a pastor about that verse once because it seemed a bit bizarre to me. Turns out the verse is more "symbolic" than it is "literal". Otherwise there would be a lot of armless people walking around.... including some armless Christians since Christians ARE NOT sinless..., just forgiven. The bible is misinterpreted a lot, especially by Christians. And based on a verse in revelation...even that is a sin. God tells us to "study" His Word and do not misrepresent it. I don't know about other Christians, but I do need help with understanding the bible. And God loving Pastors who have studied their bibles and love the Word are a great resource and gift from God in this regard. It is also good to remember to always check what is learned with the bible verses directly. God's Word does not lie and it will make sense if read within the proper context and knowledge of who is writing the book and when and why. For example, the verses before and after each verse is important because they are telling a story. Revelation will not make sense unless the reader understands who wrote the Book and when and why. To just pull "one" verse out and try to correctly apply it to your life today might be a bit difficult without reading the entire Book of Revelation. Some people are "verse readers" and some are "bible readers". The latter will understand it more than the former. I am wondering if the above noted mother is a "verse reader".

Sorry for getting off topic, but I wanted to make a point. Another point I would like to make to bring this topic back to the child that was bullied.... I find it interesting that the fact the child was "black" or bi-racial was was not included in the local newspaper article. At least I don't recall reading that. Yet, the "dreadlocks" in Ralph O'Neal's hair were included as important facts in the local newspaper last June when he was photographed being taken from jail to court. Interestingly, I have been told that it was "black" newspaper reporter wrote that article. It would be very interesting if the NAACP would talk to that black reporter to find out whom was behind that. I find it hard to believe that a black newspaper reporter would have come up with that tactic entirely on his own. Does anyone know the name of that black newspaper reporter. I would like to write him a letter and ask him a few questions as well as make a few points. Also, can anyone confirm if the NAACP is looking into the matter of these black children being bullied without any intervention by local white school officials. I have heard that the NAACO is looking into the matter, but wondering if it is true.

I would not set back and let anyone rape my daughter. I also believe in the "Context as you call it" An eye for an eye. I think you understand what I am saying. You are turning everything I have said in to something bad. I have went to the school about my daughter getting bullied, I have spoke with the parents of these children who have bullied my daughter & I have spoke with the children who have bullied my daughter. I have tried to compromise with all of them but I also pray for them. As far as my comment about "I am smart enough to seek the word myself & I don't need a pastor" As a christian person I feel that it is my duty to seek out the kingdom of God for myself. I am the one who will be paying for my sins not my pastor. If I have questions about something that I don't understand I ask someone that I feel has knowledge beyond mine. If their answer doesn't suffice then I seek out the scripture with someone else. I continue to read my Bible because I thirst for knowledge. I am sorry for calling you bitter & I shouldn't have said that - I am not perfect. What people don't realize is that Ms. Hunka's daughter Brandie has been one of the girls that has bullied my daughter for years. I spoke with Ms. Hunka but nothing has changed. I realized in speaking with Ms. Hunka that her daughter came by it honestly. Then I pick up the paper & see that my daughter's biggest bully's mom is suing the school. I couldn't help but think what comes around goes around. She has no right suing someone for what her children do to.

I couldn't help but think what comes around goes around. She has no right suing someone for what her children do to. I accept your apology. And I also apologize if I offended you. I am happy to see that you did address the bullying of your daughter by talking with the parent. You didn't say whether or not your talked with the school officials. If the bullying was taking place on school grounds, you should have also gone to the school officials overseeing what goes on there during school hours. The "parents" of bullies obviously are not going to affect change in what is allowed to take place on school grounds unless the parents actually work at the school. School officials should make sure that "bullies" are not given free rein on in the schools to pick on weaker or disadvantaged kids. If the School officials fail to do this, one has to wonder why? Obviously, nothing has gotten done about this problem in years, which is probably the basis for Mr. Hunka's attorney to file a lawsuit. I understand the lawsuit is based in a civil rights issue.., and I can understand that since this appears to be a problem in the judicial system and perhaps even the local media based on what I have read in recent months about this. Civil Rights is not only an issue concerning "blacks" but all Americans where their Constitutional Rights have been violated. And if this is not the case, it should be. The violation of Constitutional Rights in many areas, including due process under the law, appears to be a big problem in Roane County. And I do think the NAACP and a other civil rights groups, including those associated with human trafficking should look into the activities of this county government. Due process under the law is a real mess in Roane County. It is like a third world country if you ask me. I commend you for your daughter's Christian upbringing. However, if I may suggest it, please don't underestimate the value of seeking biblical counsel from a good Pastor on scripture. The Kingdom of Heaven was revealed to me by a Pastor, and such is the reality for many. That, my friend, is the purpose of the Church and it's leaders and members. I wish you and your daughter well and may the Lord always bless you with much joy, happiness.... and protection in your lives. Please try to forgive that lady for not listening to your complaints about her daughter bullying your daughter. Perhaps now she knows what it feels like. As for her 5 million lawsuit, that is the work of her attorney..., that's what they do.

Bad Example wrote: <quoted text> I forgave & prayed for her the moment I left the school after expressing my concerns about how her daughter treated my daughter. So you DID complain to the school. Well, that's the reason the attorney has filed the lawsuit. It doesn't appear the bullying in the school among classmates is a problem that RC school officials will handle by just complaints from certain parents. Perhaps the complaining parents are not a part of the good-ole-boy systems, and if they were, then maybe their complaint would be dealt with. When complaints are ignored over a period of years, I think a civil lawsuit is appropriate. Otherwise, the problem will not get handled by simply trying to talk with the officials. Whether is child is harmed by bullying or rape, officials have a responsibility to make sure that children are kept safe from predators in the community whether they are adults or other children. Kids will be kids, but it is up to the parents AND the school officials to ensure the safety of all children going to the school...... and not just the kids of the good-ole-boys in the community who have the money, the county jobs, and the judicial power to do whatever they want to the citizenry. All kids should be protected! Your child and the other lady's child were not protected by the School officials. If one of these children bullied another at one time (as you stated was done to your daughter), perhaps that child was acting out what was being allowed to happen to them by other children. This often happens. Also, sometimes children who are abused at home will become violent with other children at school. Bullying is usually learned behavior whether from an adult figure in their life or from other children at school. But it is up to the School officials to run a safe school for all children. I can understand occasional oversights since school officials can miss something from time to time, but not ongoing bullying that goes on without any accountability. Obviously this happened to you and the other children. Therefore, I believe the law suit just might bring about some positive change. And I believe that is the purpose for such a lawsuit. Again, God Bless and my best wishes to you and your daughter.

Bad Example wrote: <quoted text> I am not a good ole boy! I am a single mother of a Harriman High student that is in advanced classes. I have worked hard every day since I have been 15 years old & I don't want my daughter to have to be stuck in this town as I have been due to lack of education. Ms. Hunka suing the School Board affects not only my daughters chances but a wide variety of other students whose parents can't afford to send them to college. Every dime I've made has given my daughter food in her mouth, a roof over her head & clothes on her back. I've taken care of her by myself with no assistance from anyone for 16 years. Pushing a good education on her, telling her how important it is to do the best she can do - even though other students are teasing her calling her a nerd or geek. I have taught my daughter good morals, raised her up in church & suing is the easy way out. It is for people who are to lazy to work & want a free ride & most importantly it is a sin. So I am sorry if my opinion offends you but I want my daughter & the other children to make an honest living, not by suing but by working hard for everything they get in life. My daughter has been a victim of bullying for years but when she comes back here to visit family with her good education their payback to those who did bully her will be them serving her at the local resturant. That is all I have to say, Ms. Hunka is setting a bad example for her children. Suing is the easy way out if that parent doesn't want to work.I don't want my tax dollars going in her lousy pockets.I wonder how the parents of the child that Ms Hunka abused at the elemtary school. Then when she was charged, fled the state.I guess it is okay for her to walk into classroom & abuse someone else's child but DO NOT DO IT TO HER OWN...Hmmmm.I don 't know that to be a fact but very reliable source.I have bi-racial children in my family. They don't get abused & if I am not mistaken there are a whole lot more bi-racial students in schools. If she is using this as an excuse why aren't the other children being subjected to bullying.I hope that Ro Co Board researches this incident very thoroughly.Yes she is setting a very bad example..

I used to be Ms. Hunka's neighbor and I have overheard Ms. Hunka, on many occassions, screaming and yelling obscenity's at her children. Another child in the neighborhood said Ms. Hunka's daughter told her that her mother curses at her, slaps, punches and kicks her regularly. Has Ms. Hunka's home life been looked into?

I've seen Ms. Hunka smack her kids in the mouth, cuss them, call them names, just to put it lightly she straight up should be brought up on child abuse charges. I saw these things happen at the softball field. She doesn't care who is a witness to these things that she does to her children.

all the comments on the bullying case against roane county school system are interesting. however punitive damages against a governmental body are not allowed---its the law. as to damages the law provides for past--present--and future loss injury and/or suffering. i personally know the attorney that has filed this suit and know he has sued the school system before on behalf a teacher. for him to file this suit --remember he went to federal court--no good ole boys there--i can only say roane county better watch out---especially with the answer filed. he has represented me before and if i ever need a lawyer again i will be camped out on his doorstep.
