Attorney Heather Knott, a justice since 1994 in the Hague Town Court, Warren County, faced four charges of improper conduct, including the allegation that she appeared while under the influence of alcohol on several occasions from 2009 to 2011 as an attorney for the child in Essex County Family Court. The commission also charged that during roughly the same time Knott presided over Hague Town Court while under the influence of alcohol. The panel accused Knott of backing her car into a vehicle in Ticonderoga, leaving the scene and not reporting the incident. The commission said it censured, but did not remove, Knott in 1999 for alcohol-related improprieties when she assured the panel that she would abstain from alcohol in the future.

I don't know how she pulled it off to be a Judge and also an attorney of law. Isn't that a conflict of interest??

I know when I saw her at a court hearing that I attended for someone else, I was NOT impressed. It was in the summer and she had her 'shorts' on when she came into the room and then went in the back room and put her 'Judge ' robe on...

Probably they won't do anything about all of this anyway..it's always who you know in town that can get you out of these situations!!

Wrist slapping at best. And, she isn't the first judge who was drunk on the bench.

Furthermore, there was one Essex County judge who was caught doing big illegal things that involved forgery, illegal banking activities that involved a banker, etc. and it was a very big deal!! And all he got was a slap on the wrist.
