Old-time photo of the day Nov. 4
From 1962: Here's the caption that ran with this photo in June 1962: "This hardware store at Marquette, Iowa, just across the river from Prairie du Chien, Wisc., advertises 5 pounds of colored oleomargarine for 95 cents.

Thanks for showing the old photo. It's great.
We don't sell oleo anymore but we have now sell every thing--antiques, collectibles, used, new,
junk and stuff. The hard to find items for restoration (plumbing, heating, hardware, almost
anything. We have been in business 65 years and seen it all. Visit Marquette, Iowa, it is a small
town of 550 residents and nestled in the hills with
the Mississippi at our doorstep. Beautiful and unique-many things to see. Thanks again-your great!

Thank you for posting an article on the Old Marquette Hardware store in Marquette, IA. Sadly it was lost last night , nothing left. We on obht sides of the Mississippi River have lost a legacy. There is one couple I know of that lived upstairs that lost everything including her engagement ring along with her wedding dress. They got out in their pjs and found coats in their cars. They have nothing .
