Run Heather while you can. Don't look back. There is help and a way of escape. Don't believe him when he says he won't do it again. He's lying. They all do.

I thought you had to be with someone for seven years for them to be considered a common law spouse. He was with her when he was 13 years old?

Life in prison without parole.
Judges, if you let this freak back on the streets, he's going to kill someone.
I'd be interested in hearing the Wall's family side.

Lexington Girl....not in North Carolina. This state does not recognize common law marriages. In fact, NC considers living together as man and wife without actually being married a criminal act called Illegal Cohabitation.

I must correct myself. The NC law against cohabitation was struck down as unconstitutional within the past five years. But back to the true subject of the abuse...I just read an article elsewhere that many states are now considering choking a very serious felony. A recent study has shown that choking in a domestic relationship is a prelude to murder. RUN HEATHER RUN !!!

I happen to know this a**, even took him to court myself, he threatened to kick my butt. I hope the justice system makes an example out of him. Takes a really tough man to abuse a woman. Makes me sick, let someone in prison show him a thing or 2

You only need to look three months back to another Yadkinville abuse case to see the future outcome. The case of Deborah Hodges, her husband cut her throat during a drunken rage.
At age 20 though he has a head start on abusive behavior toward women over Deborah's middle aged husband. Wonder what would have happened had the third party not called 911? And what his next act will be if he gets out of this one?

I talked to him yesterday about what happened....he knows he should not have touched her and knows things have been rough between them.....he loves their 3 month old daughter.
My advice to him was to never ever see or contact Heather again (regardless of whether one or both still love the other)...he agreed..my suggestion was to think about the two of them as oil and water...they will never mix.......
He has to admit what he did was wrong and enter group counseling/therapy to learn how to walk away from conflict.
I stopped him from talking about suicide and told him he owes his daughter a father that is not a monster and can be around.(this can happen without he and Heather ever contacting or communicating)
Im not defending any of Stephens actions, I WOULD like to know there is a way for him to not only admit he was wrong and accept punishment, but also take actions to prove hes not just talking the talk....and be the father his daughter and every daughter deserves.
