Unfortunately, we are seeing a generation of wonderful Hispanic men and women leave the political arena. I still remember then Deputy Ortiz visitng my father's business in Robstown during the early 60's...They and other Hispanics, like Ruben Lopez and Tony Bonilla, were challanging the "Powers at Be" and promoting Hispanic issues. Rep. Solomon Ortiz has worked for over 45 years to insure that "ALL" Nueces County residents have a voice. The legacy of Solomon Ortiz and other Hispanic politicians is: "NOW" you see "Hispanic" names at the ballot box. Fifty years ago...there would've been NONE!
