Satan had a grip on this woman. Ultimately her guilt forced her to give her self up. I hope she realizes the trust she broke among her and her colleagues. It's a shame what greed will do to a person.

People today don't do their jobs. The work ethic to do a good job went out the window. My concern is, why normal average everyday people have become criminals. Lately there have been tons of this kind of crime. You don't think the republican economy and $3.00/gallon gas etc could be the reason do you??

WOW...1.3 million.

We should send in our Holier Than Thou storm troopers from Citizens For Change from LMT.
That's all we need to do to fix this problem, convert Harleysville National Bank to a First Class Bank.
Yea that will solve it !!

Why do we need to figure out why she stole the money? What about simple greed and the fact that she's a low life?

"Taryne Williams, spokeswoman for Harleysville, said she had no idea why it took seven years before someone realized so much money was missing"

If you do the math..... and take only 5 days a week into account over 7 years.. it is "only" ~$350 a day.

So if you look at it that way... i would think that at the end of the day it should all add up... but if say each teller is off a bit... this may not be that much..... But I'd also get suspicious if $350 was missing each and every day..........

Please, not everything is politics. Some people are just dumb and greedy, politics has nothing to dow ith it. Not that it matters, but she started stealing under a democrat economy anyway.

This is why I belong to a nationally known bank. They can afford to do their "checks and balances" daily and in some instances, hourly.

Harry, this is the best economy in your lifetime. Just yesterday the head of the federal reserve stated that this was the best global economy in his lifetime. Gas prices are high because there is demand. Unemployment is such that anyone who wants a job has one. If the republicans are responsible for that we should elect them over and over.

I just can't believe it took the internal auditors 7 years to catch this.$600,000.00 / 7 years is more than $85,000.00 a year. That's insane! It looks like it's time to hire more internal auditors and change the process. Surprise (unscheduled) audits for each branch would definitely be a step in the write direction.

Fatboy! I finally agree with something that you said! It's so true.

In 7 years no checks and balances were done?!? wow, they must have a wonderful employee training program.

I used to be an internal auditor and applied for a job at Hillbilly Bank 10 years ago. I didn't get the job, and gained employment somewhere else. Guess they thought that I wasn't worth it hiring at the time. Good for them. Let me count the losses. Ha Ha
