The next ObamaCare disasters
April 13, 2014

On Friday the president used the long-awaited resignation of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius to again claim victory for his namesake health law.ďShe got it fixed, got the job done,Ē Obama said.

Right.

Sorry, there is plenty more bad news ahead.

Itís not called SebeliusCare, and she wasnít to blame for most of its problems. The horrors were mostly baked into the law, with some made worse by the presidentís dishonest hard sell to get unsuspecting Americans to sign up.

Obama claimed Friday that 7.5 million people have enrolled in exchange coverage. In fact, perhaps 20 percent havenít paid their first premium and therefore arenít covered, according to estimates by RAND Corp. and Goldman Sachs.

The bigger question is how many will keep paying premiums. Thatís got the American Medical Association, a chief ObamaCare booster, so worried that itís sending warnings to its members.

Why the concern? First-time insurance purchasers, especially those living paycheck to paycheck, will be shocked by ObamaCareís high deductibles, about $3,000 for the silver plan (the most commonly selected) and $5,000 for the bronze plan (the most affordable).

Basically, youíll have to pay thousands out of pocket for appointments, tests and prescriptions until you reach your deductible.

Paul Ryan's Budget Is Facing A Surprise Republican Resistance ??

For all of Wisconsin Rep. Paul Ryan's talk about Republicans needing to produce a budget with a clear vision of the party's principles, a conservative confab in New Hampshire proved the House Budget Committee chairman's vision is far from universal.

At the Freedom Summit in Manchester, N.H., on Saturday, two of the top likely GOP presidential candidates ó Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz ó refused to endorse Ryan's proposed budget or call for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to bring it up for discussion. Real-estate mogul Donald Trump openly attacked Ryan and his budget in a speech, and his remarks were well received.

Trump portrayed Ryan's budget as shredding Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. He warned the conservative attendees of the political peril of those positions.

"I think he's a very nice person," Trump said of Ryan. "But his whole stance is to knock the hell out of Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security. And the Democrats love it. They love it. They just sit back."

Conservatives Lash Out At Rand Paul Over Foreign Policy !!!!!!!!!!

Rand Paul's noninterventionist foreign policy views aren't currying him any favor with conservative pundits, who have recently attacked the Kentucky senator and possible 2016 presidential candidate as naive and immature.

Earlier this month, Mother Jones surfaced a 2009 video of the Republican speaking to a student group at Western Kentucky University prior to announcing his Senate candidacy. In his remarks, Paul alleged that former Vice President Dick Cheney had his own financial gain in mind when he pushed for the Iraq War after 9/11.

"Dick Cheney then goes to work for Halliburton. Makes hundreds of millions of dollars -- their CEO. Next thing you know, he's back in government, it's a good idea to go into Iraq," Paul said.

The charge isn't sitting well with some conservatives.

11 Senate Democrats to Obama: Approve Keystone XL
April 10, 2014

Eleven Senate Democrats, including six who face contested re-election races this year, urged President Barack Obama on Thursday to approve the Keystone XL oil pipeline by the end of May.

The five-year review of the Canada-to-Texas pipeline has been "exhaustive in its time, breadth and scope" and has taken longer than reasonably justified, the senators wrote to the president.

Approval of the pipeline is needed to ensure pipeline operator TransCanada does not miss another construction season, the senators' letter said.

Democrats worry a lot about global warming --- everybody else, not so much
APRIL 6, 2014

A new Gallup survey shows a stark partisan divide in Americans' beliefs on global warming.

About one-third of the public -- mostly Democrats -- say they worry "a great deal" about global warming, while a much larger number, mostly Republicans and independents, say they worry about warming "only a little" or "not at all" or "a fair amount."
...
There are significant partisan divisions on the warming issue. Gallup found that 56 percent of Democrats say they worry a great deal about global warming, while just 29 percent of independents and 16 percent of Republicans say the same thing.

Twenty-seven percent of Democrats say they worry a fair amount about warming, compared to 19 percent of independents and 22 percent of Republicans.

Finally, 63 percent of Republicans and 51 percent of independents say they worry about warming only a little or not at all, while only 18 percent of Democrats say the same thing.

The costs of the 2003-2010 Iraq War are often contested, as academics and critics have unearthed many hidden costs not represented in official estimates. The most recent major report on these costs come from Brown University in the form of the Costs of War project,[1] which said the total for wars in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Pakistan is at least $3.2-4 trillion.[1] The report disavowed previous estimates of the Iraq War's cost as being under $1 trillion, saying the Department of Defense's direct spending on Iraq totaled at least $757.8 billion, but also highlighting the complementary costs at home, such as interest paid on the funds borrowed to finance the wars and a potential nearly $1 trillion in extra spending to care for veterans returning from combat through 2050.[1] An update in 2013 topped this at US$6 trillion.[2]

Those figures are dramatically higher than typical estimates published just prior to the start of the Iraq War, many of which were based on a shorter term of involvement. For example, in a March 16, 2003 Meet the Press interview of Vice President Dick Cheney, held less than a week before the Iraq War began, host Tim Russert reported that "every analysis said this war itself would cost about $80 billion, recovery of Baghdad, perhaps of Iraq, about $10 billion per year. We should expect as American citizens that this would cost at least $100 billion for a two-year involvement."[3]

Thanks GW !!
