vote him out and let the coal operators run these unsafe mines with no regulations. let them rape our lands. These operators are very smart. They done the same thing when Clinton was in there. Remember?
How stupid are you? Wise up and get a life or are you a once a month post office employ? The only thing coal operators did under Clinton and Bush was help keep this county and several other coal producing counties from going broke, unlike now. But I do have a question for you, where is the money going to come from for schools and much needed municipalities? Read your counties money thing and look how much money comes from coal severance tax, not to mention the jobs that depend on miners and their families. See ma'am if that is what you are, Harlan County needs coal more than it needs you.

Romney will win! After he goes into office, his energy advisor, Hamm(the oil billionaire worth a whopping 11 billion) will force the EPA to loosen it's regulations and oil drilling and fracking will happen all over the US. Oil will be the US main energy source and there will be an abundant supply . Thus, causing oil to be the most efficient energy source in the US. Coal will be in the dark.
Romney nd the Rep's in Congress will uphold the tax cuts for the rich. They will cut Social Security, Military, and SSI checks by 20% and Medicare beneficiaries(thanks to the Ryan plan) will receive $800.00 vouchers to purchase health insurance. Darwanism t it's finest.....the Middle class will join the poor!

Look at Obama's competition! Mitt Romney??? LMAO. The GOP is GIVING Obama a second term! You all know how I feel about coal, it's making it's final stand; we will continue to see rapid technological advances in clean energy, so just kiss that nasty rock goodbye. If you people were smart, you would be fighting for every last coal severance dollar you can get to bring in other industries for yourselves, but you elect the same politicians so we know that won't happen. Harlan will dry up, except for the tourists. But at least the mountains will stay intact, you should be thankful for that.
paul what makes you think that ? that was the first deal .now its been changed gop and the dems. got together and changed them first plains now Romney .the choice.his job is to take by laws all the other wealth the 99% have including the land.and you no if you are a far right or left winger that with little effort at all the common house hold can go on its own lot cheaper than in the system .they can home stead on food and energy for fraction of what they pay now . so things are moved up they need the land. now.

My husband works at mines. We don't think we are high or mighty. He drives a older truck. Just paid off our car. It takes what he makes for us to live and support our two children. We don't own a boat, jet ski or anything else. He works his tail off to support our family. And I doubt you gave 160,000saved or you wouldn't be so pissed and dead set on miners losing their jobs. It takes a low life to want anyone to lose their job. Just remember, karma is a b-tch

I totally agree with you, these people that are wishing bad stuff on the miner's and their families are ignorant. If the mines goes, it will be a trickle down effect, money will be lost, stores and restaurants, and other businesses will end up having to lay off or shut down. Everybody will suffer! Harlan will be a ghost town if this happens. So be careful what you wish for.
