I want to tell this to everyone. When my sister passed away we were going to use Anderson & Laws Funeral Home, when I called the first time arount 2pm they told me to call back @ 3:30 because the main guy was in Smith & another funeral, so I waited & called back @ 3:30 & talked to the main man & I tald him my name & my sisters name & there was I'm sorry about your loss instead he said he is owed a funeral for $2200.00 for my sisters Step Daddy N Law & said we would have to pay for this & plus for some on my sisters & he went on to say that he kept up his end of the bargin by having the funeral( that my sister had nothing to do with) so they should of kept up theres. JOHN JONES does not care about a familys pain or loss He took it out on my sisters family because another family did not pay theres. I'm writing this to let every one not go to Anderson & Laws Funeral Home because they dont care abour your pain I know they did not care about our pain & the loss of my beautiful sister.

They are a business!! Not charity! They were good enough to let another family member have a funeral and not pay all the bill, now you expect them to do it again? How are they suppose to stay in business if their not making any money?? My gosh everyone wants a damn hand out! I'm hungry if I come to your house will you give me grocery money for the rest of the week????? Not everything in life is FREE baby! Get use to it because that's the way it is!!!

U are an idiot. Funeral homes get stuck with unpaid bills all the time, especially in this rathole county. I don't blame them one bit. Go see if a bank will float UVA loan for that money. Bet you'll be crap out of luck!

If people would carry burial insurance and there wouldn't be a problem. You can't expect someone to give away funerals. Sorry, just doesn't happen. Hate that this happened to your sister and that you are going through a hard time, but funeral directors have a family to support also. Caskets aren't free!! My family has used Anderson & Laws Funeral home in the past and will continue to do so. They are professional and all the services I've ever been to have been top notch. Prayers for you and your family in this difficult time. My deepest sympathy for your loss.

a little known secret to burials .the law is you got to use a license funeral home for the dead.just like the hospital.got to accept you the county the deceased is in the county gets funds for that.for the ones that cant afford it then the county has to bury the deceased.or other words you could run a burial business without a license.but you cant.so the funds has to be their.

You idiots are not getting the point about what she said. She never said she wanted a free funeral for her sister not once did she say that. What she said was one of her sisters inlaws or something to that effect had stiffed the funeral homw and they were holding it against her. They expected this woman to pay for her deceased sisters inlaws bills. This is what she was talking about you people need to pay attention to what you are reading so you do not make an even bigger as$ out of yourself!

It don't matter, there's plenty more funeral homes around here she can call. Bitching about it on Topix isn't helping!

I understand it's a business just like any other, but the woman isn't asking them to bury her sister for free. I think the funeral home is in the wrong here unless the bill was in her deceased sisters name.(as in her sister was the one who was supposed to pay for the in laws funeral to begin with) It would be on the same level as if say my mothers bf died and his family didn't pay for his funeral like they were supposed to, and then them refusing to do my grandmothers funeral until I paid for his and hers as well. That's not good business as well as being a pretty dick thing to do.

Personally hun I would go with Mt. Pleasant. They were wonderful with my dad's funeral and I know that no one in my family will ever use anyone else.

As I and other people have stated earlier, burial insurance would've solved it all. I don't believe anybody would turn down work for no reason. Just because everyone isn't piling on and calling Anderson & Laws the sorriest SOB's on the planet doesn't mean we are making a$$es out of ourselves. Apparently funeral arrangements were made at another establishment so there really isn't anything to argue about.

first off my sister had nothing to do with her STEP DADDY IN LAW she was a women with 4 kids its not her fault or my familys faul that her in laws did not payig for his funeral I know everything is about making money what if you or anyone in your family had to go to the Dr & they said Im sorry you cant be seen because your in laws owe the Dr. money now is that fair. So dont come on here & say these things
